The golden age of Aussie music? So much good music at that stage, just alot of really fun enjoyable bands. The time before much of the elctro we are currently cursed with. Before bands like Grinspoon and The Living End went downhill. Before Eskimo Joes heads dissapeared up their own bums. For example

Frenzal Rhomb - Punch In The Face

The Living End - Second Solution

TISM - (He'll Never Be An) Old Man River

Bodyjar - Not The Same

The Meanies - Them

The Tenants - You sh*t Me To Tears

Rhubarb - Exerciser

Grinspoon - Black Friday

You Am I - Berlin Chair

Eskimo Joe - Sweater

Just seems like at some point in about 2003 JJJ decided to stop playing this type of music completely, instead switching to indie rock and electro, along with the obvious emergance and abundance of Oz Hip Hop that also dominates the airwaves. There are still some exellent local Australian punk bands but they do not receive the airplay that bands like Frenzal, bodyjar etc did in the 90's, thus have no chance of ever making it past the local pubs in Sydney/Melbourne whatever.

Meh
Spiderbait was the one i forgot (although they were godawful live the time i saw them, just played their instruments for about 40 minutes before finally playing some songs)
Tumbleweed were also good and reportedly awesome live since reforming
Hard Ons are another i forgot altho they began more in the 80's.
Regardless, it was a very good era of Australian Music

One of the best gigs I've ever been to was a triple bill of The Get Up Kids, Area 7 and Jebediah. Absolutely outstanding.

My first ever concert was Homebake 2000. I was 11 years old at the time and my dad agreed to go.
Saw the likes of MGF, Frenzal Rhomb, Jebediah, Spiderbait (who, as i said, were sh*te) and an absolutely ball tearing performance from The Living End. Very good day.

Compared to this years lineup which is just so bland

man this thread rules.

first show i ever went to was Custard. Magic Dirt were on the mid card (of about 5 bands) before they were even famous, seriously they played before the Julian Date lol.

anyways, one band has been left off and its a massive fail from everyone, that they arent already there lol....

TOE TO TOE!
