phillips you're the only smart reply so far.
Well I'm sure we could all come up with a nice list of players for Santa that would probably be smart as well as awesome to see but that doesn't mean they are feasible... ;-)

And it's not exactly Wengers style to buy well known players. I gave up trying to guess him ages ago. And 99% of the time, you don't here about an Arsenal transfer until it basically happens.

Poom is a decent backup behind Alumnia imo. But neither are full time keepers.

Mony is right, splash some cash on a mid-late 20's up a comer.

The other thing to add to it is that Wenger doesn't buy for the sake of buying.

Lehmann has a good couple of seasons in him yet as does Poom. Almunia is handy backup in too and is a bit younger.

I reckon when he does bring a new keeper in, he'll be around the 30 years of age mark. He may bring in a mid 20 year old keeper but it won't be a big name player, it'll be one to develop.

Couple of things...

Rosicky out for 10 days - hammy. :x

In our three 1-1 draws in the EPL this season, the corner count stands at 49 for, 4 against. The goal count from these corners is 0 for, 2 against!

And it's interesting that Wenger didn't attend the press conference after the Everton Carling Cup game and the normal pre game press conference for this weekends game. Hasn't happened in his 10 years to date...

Drawn away to Liverpool in the Carling Cup Quarter Final. Awesome stuff! Very good challenge for the kids once again which is great for their development.

QF's are on the 18th/19th of December.

Next Wednesday (22nd) the game vs Hamburg is on at 1pm in the afternoon on ESPN.

They have the Moscow vs Porto game on live at 4.45am but I reckon they'll update the score from Emirates, so will have to give it a miss.

Will also have to give all media etc a miss for the day and watch it in the afternoon!

Same, I'll be taping it at 1pm and knocking off early to watch it at 4ish before going to 6-a-side soccer.

Tomas picked up a hamstring problem in training on Thursday, November 9. He missed the Liverpool game and is expected to miss the home fixtures against Newcastle and Hamburg.

Craig Moore just said on the EPL preview show -

"We're going to go and have a go at Arsenal".

Good!!! No boring as bat sh*t 20,000 players behind the ball with a bus in front of the goal type of away perforance to put up with.

They're coming to have a go... 3-0 Arsenal.

0-1 at the break.

We have got to stop making it hard for ourselves against poor sides! To many times this season we have gone behind which only encourages the opposition and allows them to stack the defence and make it hard for us to play.

Easy with hindsight, but why play Baptista when he's been out for so long. Give one of the young guys a go in the middle of the park. With Gilberto missing we need an anchor in there. We're getting bossed in midfield (probably because they are playing 6 in there!) and our passing has apparently been poor today.

And I know we have a big game against Hamburg coming up midweek and Henry played for France a few days ago, but he's gotta come off the bench early now. Don't let it drift Wenger or we'll drop points that we should be taking easily today...

Just read Van P went off injured at HT and may not be back on...

FT 1-1 (Henry in the 70th).

Frustrating stuff, we are being so inconsistent. Going to have to find some to go with the top 2. Not good enough at the minute, we keep dropping points against ordinary opposition. :x

Lets stuff Hamburg!

Thierry Henry stepped off the bench to inspire Arsenal's recovery as they earned a point against Newcastle United.
The Gunners skipper had been left on the bench for the Barclays Premiership clash with Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium, manager Arsene Wenger concerned about player burn-out following his midweek international duty with France.
Henry, though, once again proved to be Arsenal’s inspiration.
The brilliant Frenchman was introduced as a second-half substitute when his team were trailing 1-0 - and promptly curled in a free-kick to level on 70 minutes.
Arsenal pressed, but were denied by some resolute defending and an inspired display by Newcastle keeper Shay Given, fit again following an injury lay-off.
The point, hard-fought as it was, meant Arsenal lost ground on Barclays Premiership pace-setters Manchester United and Chelsea, although with a match in hand they are still not out of the title race.
For Newcastle, results elsewhere mean they are at least out of the relegation zone - although still in trouble at the wrong end of the table.
Wenger had again stressed the need for his side to take the lead and so force Newcastle to make a game of it, rather than sit back as many visitors had done at the Emirates Stadium.
Those directives were not transferred onto the field, however, as after a positive start and decent chances for Emmanuel Adebayor and Cesc Fabregas, the Magpies stole the lead on the half-hour.
Arsenal were left light at the back following a free-kick, and were caught on the break.
A flick-on from Obafemi Martins put Kieron Dyer into space on the edge of the area.
Emmanuel Eboue was tracking him - but the England midfielder took control of the ball, turned and coolly dispatched a low strike into the bottom right-hand corner.
Arsenal were clearly incensed by again falling behind at home, despite dominating for large spells of the match.
The danger was now, of course, that Newcastle would sit back on their lead, getting plenty of men behind the ball.
With the visitors indeed sitting deep, Robin van Persie tried his luck from 25 yards, but his well-struck shot was straight at Given.
Arsenal remained patient, knocking the ball around waiting for an opening as half-time approached.
Adebayor sent a looping header over from Fabregas’ chip into area, before Van Persie curled an angled shot on the turn just wide of the far post after darting in down the right.
Holland international Van Persie had to go for treatment on his ankle following a heavy block on the edge of the area, and it was no surprise when he did not reappear at the start of the second half, replaced by Henry.
Arsenal created an opening inside the first few moments.
The ball broke to Adebayor and his snap-shot from close range was drilled straight at Given, who made a smart reaction save.
There was a determination about the Gunners, who produced several slick passing moves, if without the final telling ball.
Nevertheless, there were still moments of concern at the other end.
On 55 minutes, Dyer again found space at the edge of the area and sent a curling effort from the Newcastle left just wide of the far post.
Henry was slipped into the left side of the area by Gael Clichy, but his angled shot was deflected away acrobatically by Given.
The home side continued to dominate as the hour mark approached.
Fabregas was next to be found in space in the danger zone - and his snap-shot was superbly beaten clear one-handed by Given.
It was all Arsenal now, the hosts forcing a succession of corners.
With 20 minutes left, Steven Taylor was cautioned when he bundled over Henry, who was looking to get away on an angled ball down the left.
The Arsenal captain dusted himself down and took the free-kick himself, whipping it up over the wall - and in off the underside of the crossbar for his seventh goal of the season.
Fabregas saw an effort deflected inches wide by Craig Moore and Henry had an effort diverted onto the post before Given pulled off another fine flying save from the Arsenal skipper.
Four minutes of stoppage time were shown, and the Gunners continued to press - but crucially once again failed to find a winner.
