That's right!

Interviewer: "So, Brian - you did well out there today. Winning 50 points to nil against any team is always a great achievement."

Brian Smith: "Yeah. We asked therm some questions out there today, and they replied with questions of their own. The questions they asked us...I questioned whether the questions we questioned in the first place would serve as answers to the questions they questioned us with. It turns out their questions couldn't do enough to question us."

Interviewer: "...:? ."

Blame a coach all you like, he picked pretty much the right team he can't completly lose a game for you.

In all seriousness though, he'll do great. He is an astute coach.

And by all reports, he's got Newcastle running a tight ship.

And Hagan has got us training pretty well, reportedly.

I have a suspicion both clubs did the right thing.

Plus we got Finchy! :D

Without gettin too serious, he picked a perfect team and then farked with their minds so much that half of em were too stressed to sleep the night before.. Love the man, but as a coach

I hate it how people always blame coaches.

FFS They don't run out on the park and lose it

True.

The do, however, come up with gameplans; select the teams; and try to fire up their squad for each game.

Brian Smith was questionable at best in two out of three categories there.

Generally Smith has had the right game plans and picks the right teams. He is a perfectionist and he covers all the bases which cost parra in 2001 IMO. He should have just let the play it. The fire up part is questionable, but when you have A.Johns and D.Buderus sittin in your shed, its not really up to the coach IMO.

I just really don't rate Hages as a coach, although i do believe his preformance was hindered by Johns trying to coach them. But who can you blame for that one?:?

I saw the boys train on Friday and they were having soo much fun. Hages kinda stood back and let the specialist coaches do what they had to do. He would step in and give a few pointers here and there. Team seemed so much more relaxed by it..

But we have Nathan Hindmarsh and Nathan Cayless. Internationals and highly respected players in the game. Firing them up week in and out shouldn't be too hard to do.

And his selection policy was always quesrtionable - Feleti Mateo played one match off the bench, did nothing wrong and when we needed forwards, what did he do? He signed Darren Treacy and Willie Leyshon.

Not to mention Matt Petersen's constant inclusion in the team...
