epic lol @ tim. making sh*t up.

I haven't bagged Barrett, Ennis, TLL, Gallen, White, Hindmarsh, LOD, and another couple of blokes who I can't remember.

I'm only bagging the blokes who played like utter spastics. And hey, that doesn't include the Roosters player.

You're just having a sook because your ladyfriend is a Merge fan and they were all woeful.
You obviously didn't read my post. I thought all those players played pretty poorly, as did pretty much everyone except the three I mentioned.

I just find it hilarious a halfback who really didn't offer that much in attack is being sympathised with by, shock horror, a Roosters fan.

For the record I don't think Ennis had such a great game and wouldn't be too phased if he were dropped.

I also think we can do better than Pearce at half. He didn't really seem to be doing much leading around the park from halfback, and I'm not convinced he would with a better forward pack either.

Who do you suggest is a better halfback than Pearce for NSW?

Kimmorley- old and used up
Barrett- Not a halfback, too old, crap form
Mullen- LOL
Wallace- Woeful apart from his 1st Origin IIRC
Hornby-
Finch- LOL

Let's check some 5/8th's

Campese- Been in pathetic form for most part of the year
Sutton- Probably the best candidate, but is too hot and cold
Soward- Is overrated, poor defender
Anasta- Tried and tested, failed on all
Carney- Would be my choice, but not playing 5/8th and goes missing far too often

The fact is there is no one. You've got a player like Scott Prince who would be first picked for NSW every game not able to even get a look in into the QLD side. Sums up the situation pretty much

You know how you just hate some guys for no reason at all? Raiders Premiers is one of those guys.

No, you guys leave Soward alone! Don't want him put with this pack of turds, also he would be blasted no matter what he does.

Not sure how Soward is overrated, he's in good form with the Dragons and hasn't even been mentioned as a possibility. Personally I don't see how you would want Campese. There's many players better, and in better form than he is.

NSW should stick with Pearce. Wasn't the best, but NSW needs to develop a core of players around the likes of Hayne, Pearce, Morris etc if it every wants to be competitive at origin again.

While I don't think Hayne, Pearce or Morris were by any means special on Wednesday night, they're the three blokes that we need to build a team around. They're young and in a few years if we persevere with them, the Blues will start winning Origin series' again. We may have to suffer a sixth-straight series loss for that to happen, but in the long-run I can cope with that. Sadly, I think Gids' time as an Origin player is just about up, but least he'll be able to play for the Knights :fist:

I agree.

I also reckon, as much as Barrett tried hard the other night and Hindmarsh always tries his guts out, we now need to look past guys of that vintage.

The biggest mistake NSW made last year was to bring back all the oldies in an effort to win game three. Sure we may have won the game and prevented a clean sweep, but at the end of the day, come game one this year we still had the same problems as we had at game one last year.

If the selectors are at all serious, they will forget about the result of game three this year and pick a team that focuses on the future. They need to pick some young blokes who they are confident, will be there again for game one next year. I'd start by picking the likes of Tolman and Snowden first up and then I'd also look at guys like Idris, the other Morris brother, Josh Dugan. You want some young blokes who haven't been associated with the 5 in a row, who know how to find the try line and will have something to prove. Then you stick with them next year.

I really don't understand why it's such a bad thing to blood Soward in SOO...

It's that old chestnut that NSW selectors roll out every year. They don't pick him because he is seen as "a bad defender". Doesn't matter if he lays on more tries than anyone else in the competition, if he is seen as a defensive liability, they won't pick him. They'd rather pick a strong defender out of position (like Lyon in game 1).

On the flipside, QLD would just pick the bloke because he lays on tries. Lockyer, Thurston, Alfie Langer, Matt Bowen, I reckon most of them would not have got a run if they were from NSW.

Another perfect example is Jennings. He'd be picked for QLD, but he can't get a run for NSW because he is seen as a poor defender. Doesn't matter that he scores try after try, they pick the likes of Beau Scott who is a backrower masquerading as a centre and only has one try to his name this year, because he is seen as a solid defender.

NSW have some unbelievable firepower at their disposal and don't pick it year after year because these guys are seen as "not Origin material". Look at the leading tryscorer table. Most of the guys in the top ten are from NSW and can't get a run.
