Having to swim at this beach was just so hard to take, but the Missus twisted my arm.

One of the locals. He was a Kava drinking champion btw.

Nice one DKOR

Shang-Ri-La resort is awesome. The place is so well set up.

Did Mun come round trying to sell you tours, etc? He is a funny bastard

Good salesman. He had my Missus signing us up for a cruise and a Dinner before she knew what hit her. About $400 Fijian later, he'd signed her up and away he went.

I went ballistic when she got back to the room. Then I met him later and realised how slick the bloke was so I apologised to her.

Seriously, you don't pay cash for anything while in the resort, you just charge it to the room and then pay at the end of the trip.

Mun just wanders around the place with a receipt book and signs you up to everything.

Mun - "Are you doing anything tomorrow"

You - "Just laying on the beach"

Mun - "There is a tour to an island tomorrow, you could lay on the beach there its very nice" *starts writing in his little receipt book*

You - "That sound's like it might be nice"

Mun - *hands you the book*
"just sign here"

You - "Ok"

Mun - "See you at the boat ramp at 9am"

You - "Ok, what did I just sign for?"

Mun - "I've booked you on the cruise for the Island, you and your partner, it's $100Fijian each and lunch is included, oh but you will need dinner tonight as well, here sign this"

You - "Whats that"

Mun - "I've booked you in for the firedancing tonight $60Fijian each. Dinner is included"

What was the weather like DKOR?

Low 30's every day bar one where we had rain and mid 20's.

They'd had a Cyclone just before I went over there though so it wasn't as lush as usual. Lots of driftwood floating around the beaches and tree branches laying around everywhere.

Also, the Fijians are burning a sh*t load of sugar cane atm so it's a bit smelly on the main island right now as well.

Is the humidity really high (like Thailand) or is it nice and pleasant?

Do they generally get cyclones hitting the island?

No, its nothing like Thailand humidity wise. Although they do generally get a lot of afternoon showers at this time of year.

Generally they have the odd cyclone each year. This years one was the worst for a while though apparently.

If I had to compare the weather to somewhere in Aus, I would say it'd be like mid to North QLD. Starts off beautiful, then you usually get some wind through in the early afternoon, followed by rain in the late afternoon for about 10 minutes. Then its humid as hell for the next hour or so before it settles down for the night.

Ha ha that's exactly how he got us onto the village tour

I managed to talk my way out of the fire dance dinner though, we had breakkie and dinner already included in our package

That whole "no money" thing is scary as. You just keep getting presented with stuff to sign and before too long you have no idea how much you've spent. Luckily I've been around the traps a bit before so I know you have to keep your receipts or go and get an account statement once in a while. Otherwise you just have no idea.
