The post Ponting era begins, two thirds into this series

Winner of this game pretty much just about takes one spot in the finals IMO

Australia win both games on Friday/Sunday, then the two useless teams can battle it out.

Welcome to the 9th match of the CB Series. This one takes place at the Blundstone Bellerive Oval in Hobart and it is the match between Australia and Sri Lanka. Australia are starting life without Ricky Ponting in the ODI setup and they will want to win today to seal their spot in the final.

Pitch report: The pitch is very flat. The grass on it is all dead reckons Tom Moody. He likens it to a road.

Shane Watson is making a comeback into the Australian team after being sidelined by injury for close to three months. However, he may not feature in the match today, but we are waiting for official confirmation.

Sri Lanka are on a roll after winning two consecutive matches. They comprehensively outclassed Australia at Sydney and defeated India at the Gabba to sit in second position in the points table. A win today for them will boost their chances of securing a place in the finals. Stay tuned for the toss and the team updates.

------------------------------

This game will be a real litmus test for us and gotta be a must win... I haven't heard any recent news on Watsons availability?

I wonder if wade should bat down the order with Watson opening. With Watson in the team we then don't need 3 specialist fast bowlers.

I'm assuming that when Watson comes back into the side on Sunday, that Wade will be the one pushed down the order..

I'd say that Christian is the one in line to be rotated as he is an all rounder like Watson..

Wade will probably go straight down to 6..

Pretty much an all or nothing summer for Warner. Not good for a bloke who opens in all 3 forms.
