Nothing to play for... Broncos needed to win to secure a top 8 (Eels lost anyway)
Broncos team had a lot of reps including Tallis, Lockyer, Webcke, DeVere, Carroll, Berrigan, Corey Parker, Scott Prince, Andrew Gee, Dane Carlaw, Civinoceva, Meyers.
Dragons were decimated by injuries and had: a backline consisting of: Reece Simmons, Hassan Saleh, John Wilshire, Chris Nero and a young Benny Creah on the wing. Other ringins consisted of Leikvoll at starting prop and a bench with Robbie Simpson, John Cross and Craig Stapleton.
Our team was written off by all....
And this is how it went....

I think this may have been Timmins one and only game as captain.... and he was also known for what he did after another broncos game
HOW GOOD was that ......

Great post Corner_Post , What a wonderful game and the players themselves were intent on winning , nothing was going to stand in their way - true Dragon spirit !

i am fully aware of the shortcomings of our side and their mentor , their excruciatingly bad form over the last 8 weeks or so HOWEVER they are in the 2018 semifinals , so the sole purpose of this thread is quite simple - LETS GET BEHIND our team of Dragons for what may very well be their final remaining match of the season .

No negativity on this particular thread ( as hard as it may be ) shall we ALL refrain ourselves and see that for all of the good and bad that the boys in the Big Red V will once again be representing the St.Geroge Illawarra in the finals this year .

Finally as said by a number of our colleagues - we shall have plenty of time to point the finger and discuss our failures so far this season very soon , so at this point in time there is the slightest of chances that our team could be victorious on Sunday, then I for one will be supporting them . :innocent:
Ok,..if I must. I'll be watchin...and a hoping..... and a praying too...for a minor miracle :) A win under the circumstances would nearly almost negate the last half of the year....I said nearly

Yep
Good thread. I see absolutely no reason to push complaints and negativity between now and Sunday so let's enjoy what might be the last week for the Dragons in the 2018 season and hope they get another crack.

We'll have a long off-season to dissect, until then, I'm not writing us off.

Dragons fans, Broncos fans, media, NRL fans have all written us off this weekend. Who knows, it just may work in our favour
Geez I hope so!. But what worries me and the cynisysm in me in reaching middle age is that why do I get the feeling that the NRL and TV land...need a QLD side to be successful in a finals series. Wouldnt be about TV ratings would it..or loss of if QLD bow out?. This would be truly a great win against the odds. More so than the narrow loss to the Dogs in Mary's other finals game in 15.

Guys all the talk up here is who the Broncs play next , and getting in early for Grand Final tickets !! Media outlets have brushed the Dragons who have hardly been given a mention...Odd for a Bennett coached side to be so cocky heading into a sudden death Semi . However the Broncs have some outstanding youngsters coming thru that just maybe , get caught in the headlights of such a high pressure game....

Great memory Corner Post.
I remember that night after winning saying HTF did we just win that with this team.
A couple of things I'd forgotten were Barrett out injured (again) & Daley assistant coach.

I would love nothing more than the Dragons to win and 1 positive we can look at for the Saints in the last 4 weeks is that when they were expected to win (Against Dogs and Eels) they got thumped. When they were tipped to lose (Tigers and Knights) they won. I listen to quite a few podcasts etc and not many tipped Saints to beat the Tigers in Leicchardt with the Tigers season on the line or Knight on Old Boys day and the Dragons stood up and won both. They do seem to lift in games they need to win and lost due to arrogance. I don't think they will be arrogant this week. Against the Bronco's they may surprise and do the same.

At the end of the day the were leading the comp for a while so are definitely capable on their day so they should not be written off.
