A 5/8 Available

Joey did not have a high opinion of him initially because the Knights gave him the 5/8 spot over his brother.
A move which actually gave them a grand final victory.
A very respected league person told me that Matt was let go because they thought that Joey would develop better with Rudder a long side him.
2 things happend
Joey developed
Knights win GF

Joeys evident dismay at Rudder leaving only emphasises that further when he said it will be a bigger loss than when we lost mathew.

Character has little to do with it.

A ripping yarn that Michael Palin would be proud of. Joey was already pretty well developed by the time Matty left the club. Knights would have won in 2001 without Rudder. It was Kennedy and Johns that won the premiership for them.

Rudder can't play.

I am not in a postion to doubt the person who told me. Few are. I can only tell you what I was told & it took place at a Roosters Saints match at the SFS. The match where there was huge storm.
Present were, at the time, 3 players, 2 managers & 2 current coaches.
Actually one was recently sacked.

Fair enough Reefy. I still say Rudder can't play, and it seems I'm not alone in that opinion.

Its all redundant in regards to the Sharks.

Reefy how can you say that putting Rudder at 5/8 was "A move which actually gave them a grand final victory". Explain to me how it was Rudder at 5/8 and not Andrew Johns and Ben Kennedy that won them that grand final.
Rudder is and always has been an ordinary footballer, I know many knights fans that were happy to see the back of him.

AJ was playing good footy, but far from what he has become. He relied too much on matty & matty kept him out of the play because he was very similar.
The reason they won the grand final line you have mis interpreted. Of course there were lots of factors but after the display by Johns that night, you would think their develop AJ strategy worked beautifully.
