Was that courageous victory yesterday a turning point for this team? I have previously described them as fragile in the face of any pressure but an inspired performance yesterday under all sorts of pressure including a scintillating 5 minutes from Tariq Simms and great control and desperation from others may have shown they are now muscling up and ready to move up to the next level.

Also,
- Delighted that McGregor stood up and made the right call with Dugan too, this will strengthen the team bond and may just jolt Dugan into something special to finish his time with us.
- Can't wait until they learn to use Dufty in support, he is a star and I reckom some of his peers from u20s will be too In the future.
- If yesterday was McDonalds first first grade game you would immediately know he wasn't up to it, he is mistake prone, yet to catch a kick, not fast and a worry in defence, we can do better.
- McCrone needs to be hidden away, no kick, only pass. I just think we would be better without him in the 17, sorry Josh.

What's the forum think, was it a one off or can they continue to grow in confidence and go deep this year?

I'll let you know my opinion about 6pm next Sunday, until then it's just treading water.

However, I was impressed with winning a tight game, for maybe the first time this year.
MacDonald has been my standout failure this year, especially when you consider the young talent coming through, he should have been dropped weeks ago, but given our penchant for picking and sticking it dosnt surprise me.

If Mann plays half they have a chance of winning next week and the 1st semi and then it is unknown territory after that.
If Mann doesn't play half I give us little chance next week and next to no chance in any semi.

Totally agree OLD TIMER Mann number 7 asks a lot more questions than Mr Wolfpack I also see need for a new winger to replace Mr slowboat to China surely we have another young gun it's a good opportunity to blood somebody new swap nighty on to Morris and put the new boy on the other wing . unfortunately the coach won't do it .such a pity really but go THE BIG RED VVVV .

We'll possibly fall into an extraordinarily bloated semi final series (more like a participation award than reward for success) after a 6 from 16 run.

Whilst Doust and Mary celebrate this achievement, we'll be waiting another decade to truly compete.

But I otherwise don't want to detract from some fans jubilation at such a momentous feat.

That's what I think.

Thought we defended great and Widdop finally learned how to close out a game (like all good halves and captains do).

Beating Penrith at home after a 6 game winning streak when they were trying nail a semi final spot is no mean feat. Mann needs to be half and Dugan needs to come back in the side with his head screwed on. Then we are a chance.

Like I said the bus leaves for the first semi final next Friday week .. Both teams had a lot to play for and under pressure we beat the form team in the com (barring Storm) on their home ground without DUGAN and Packer.

Next week both players are available.. Dogs won't survive with anything less than a 30 point drubbing then it's a tough first semi.. We are primed and focused but need MANN at half because he's useless in the centres!

Based on the way the Dugan omission occurred, it was the leadership group that made the call - not McGregor.
That translated into a backs to the wall performance against a form team on their home turf.
If that is the catalyst for a change in our fortunes then it would be fantastic.
Unfortunately McGregor has made a cynic out of me.
E.g. We flogged Manly 52-22 in round 20 which many heralded as "turning the corner", "onwards and upwards" etc.
Then the following week we get rolled by Newcastle and the week after that got overrun by a Souths team out of contention and nothing to play for.
In my opinion, we lost both those games because we were poorly prepared and coached on game day.
Win those games and we are comfortably into the 8.
I hope we smash the Dogs and charge into the finals BUT I have no confidence in McGregor to deliver results in crunch games.

Picking and sticking as long as it's not Mann. Mary's more of a picker and flicker with Mann. Sorry for the nose-picking innuendo.

I wasn't convinced, we have guts and determination in spades and our forwards a excellent. I still think we're very disjointed in attack and only have two modes: one out or sideways. Our wingers are very very weak in attack.
