A Good Start To The Season....Now What?

I'm more disappointed in the losses v Knights and Eels than yesterday's game. Would have taken 5-5 to start the season if offered this February however it feels like an opportunity missed.

Winnable game this week, coming into a tough draw during the origin period. Hopefully can take advantage of some teams missing origin players.

Been some good individual performances, however attack still lacks cohesion. Our best stuff happens off the back of TDS and Bula rather than the halves.

We've had a pretty good run with injuries which helps our non-existent squad depth. Needs to continue if we are to do anything this season.

I think our spine have been poor apart from Bula. It's meant to be our strength but Api and Luai have been average and Galvin shithouse.

We have a lot of improvement in us.

I said at the start of the year I thought 8 wins would be a pass mark with the roster we had, the amount of time it would take to gel, and the lack of depth we had. I also said it would take 3 years to make the finals. I still stand by that.

The positives have been the improvement in defence (overall this season) and the performance of May and To'a, and some of our lesser lights like AD and Sayfarth.

The lowlight has been the Galvin fiasco which I hadn't factored into the equation and his performances dropping off a cliff this year. Even though the forwards have improved the pack is midget sized compared to most other teams.

I think we can probably win about 10 games now if:

1. we have a great run with injuries.
2. we dump Galvin to reserves and prioritise the development of Latu (and Mason if Latu is out)
3. we don't chop and change the team positionally, when not necessary.
4. we find a way to reduce May and Pole's workload.
5. we spend more time in training working on attacking shapes, and straightening the attack
6. we get Bula to support up the middle and play on the left side.

I still think we are a fair way off being a consistent and competent team. We need more and bigger forwards, and depth across the boards. We need about as many good, marquee signings as we had this year, again next year.

Yep. I think we are right in this comp and it's early days at this point.

That was a huge loss that showed heaps of flaws in our team but I think that was a real poor performance from us and hopefully we won't see us play so poorly again this season.
The “team” are a pack of big noting frauds.
They’re about to go on a run of losses.

Someone mentioned that during magic round we looked like a team waiting for the bye. Yesterday we definitely looked that way. We need to have one big performance against Souths, then Benji can give the boys a few days off to reset. In the context of our season this is a big game. Since 2012, pretty much every year we have had a horrific mid year lull, where we go 6-8 games with just the solitary win. If we lose this week then it’s going to be like deja vu all over again. If we win we can keep ourselves in that top 8 mix.

Also, this rubbish with Luai and his dad doesn’t help.
