If Kayo somehow loses the NRL rights then 100% the fees will go up to cover the people who unsubscribe. I would be one of those people.

Well ..I can assure you that most AFL fans would feel differently…. I think a lot of the ones living in WA, SA and VIC wouldn’t agree with you, and are very ignorant of the popularity of the NRL …

I still think it’s not a given they get more …I think it will be close
Yes they are. Most AFL people that grew up in those areas have not lived in Sydney and Brisbane like I have. Whenever I'm flicking on Fox League and for whatever reason there's highlights of Darius Boyd's footwork it still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and brings me back to my younger days. And that was in a packed Suncorp where the crowd would go ballistic.

Out of fairness though, I'm not sure NRL people realise how cashed-up some of the AFL support is, the blurred area between rich supporter memberships, sponsorships, corporate functions and so on. It's like if all the rich Union fans we all hate actually put their money behind NRL instead of donating to their private school's Union scholarship fund. The AFL sells thousands of $10,000 Medallion Club corporate packages in a way that just doesn't exist in the NRL.

I haven't closely followed NRL for several years. I no longer live in Sydney or Brisbane mate. I might not get my references perfect to what I remember watching Do you want me to ring up my parents and see if I've kept any ticket stubs in storage from Broncos games I went to for you to believe me?

You wouldn't have thought so by the posters on this thread. There are literally millions of people that are in the Venn diagram of being an AFL/NRL fan. You and I both in that.
LMAO. TV ratings in the states prove this is bullshit. Outside of event games, AFL get nothing in NSW/QLD and the NRL get nothing in the wasteland states. The crossover would be in the tens of thousands.

Most of your claims have been blown out so for someone in "the data business" you must be shit at your job.

You don't think that there are millions of AFL/NRL fans among Melbourne & Sydney specifically (which is literally 11 million people), not to mention the accumulation of the population of places like Wagga, where it's actually normal to be a fan of both sports?

Yeah, there's not an NRL fan in Mt. Gambier, and there's not an AFL fan in Mt Isa. Both are smaller than Wagga though.

Guys, my uncle works at Nintendo. And he told me that someone told him that Kayo streaming numbers are often published in trade and industry news, which industry insiders know. And that person who told my uncle told him that in 2024 AFL had 6.1 billion streaming minutes and the AFL had 5.1 billion streaming minutes on Kayo. And my uncle who works for Nintendo also told me that the average viewership for Kayo AFL coverage was 158000 that year. He also told me that the average viewership for NRL coverage was 200000. He also told me that it is well understood within industry circles that the Foxtel Group internal survey knows how many people subscriber for AFL, NRL and both. And I can tell you that the person who told me uncle said that the majority is driven by NRL subscribers, as reflected in the average rating.

If you have any more questions for my uncle who works at Nintendo, feel free to ask.

Which is to be expected. Kayo have Super Saturdays etc. For NRL fans outside of Sydney which might include the team that they want to watch. Kayo can't sell Super Saturdays to AFL fans outside of Melbourne, because they might be interested in only watching their local team and might not stay watching at coverage rolls into the next game.
