A perfect illustration of why Soccer will never gain ground on the other codes in this country. That a dive and a poor decision cost a team a chance at winning a grand final is disgraceful. It would have taken 5 seconds of a video referee’s time to reverse that decision.

The way Berisha celebrated the penalty being given is also a disgrace. He knew full well it was a dive and not a penalty and got up as soon as he heard the whistle and ran half way around the stadium like a lunatic.

This video at about the 2:32 mark pretty clearly shows Miller kicked Berisha's left leg which caused him to kick the ball with his left leg and have an airswing. And a big congratulations to the ref for seeing that and having the balls to make the call in the final minute of a grand final.

On the other hand, a huge stuff up by the linesman who missed a pretty clear offside and should be thanking his lucky stars most of the attention went on the penalty decision.

2:37 however, shows Miller completely missing Berisha's leg.

I don't know how there's a conceivable way in which there was contact.

I don't even know why it's a debate actually - it's been acknowledged, even by Roar fans, that Berisha fell over his own feet. Regardless of whether he did it deceptively or not, he did. Miller didn't touch him.

Also, the pass from Broich is deflected off a Glory defender before reaching Berisha so I dunno if that still counts as offside??? If not, apologies to the linesman

From what I saw and what I’ve seen it was an air swing. As simple as that.
"He tried to kick it and he loses balance and goes down.
"But then he complained as if he’d been kicked and wants the penalty kick.
"That annoys me more than anything. Because there was not a thing in it and the boy basically air swings and gets a penalty for it.

If anything it is worse at the better levels so the point remains.

Back onto the penalty discussion, Roar players and fans alike are still trying to convince themselves it was a penalty. They won the match, why don’t they just come out and say “Yes it was a rubbish call but we still deserved to win”, everyone would respect the more if that were the case.

One angle suggests a possibility of contact but the others suggest otherwise so I can see why some are saying contact was made.
