Hey Joe's Magpies my post clearly states it is only early in the season. My point is they are supposedly our two best players and they didn't look that flash when compared to Thurston and Barba...who have carried over their form from last year.

I am not be hard just stating the obvious....

God some supporters are hard taskmasters
perspective  Joe's Magpies, did you see how Thurston, Barba, Cam Smith, Bird and others played compared to Benji. It was the 1st game of the year for these guys and gee, for the 1st game of the year THEY WERE IMPRESSIVE - Benji though was well, a bit like the Benji who played for the West Tigers in 2012.

Can only hope, wish, pray that Benji turns it on when he is surrounded by his tiger team mates.

He needs to take the line on more, use that magic step he used to use and sometimes overuse but it has been non existant for a long while.

A shell of his former self.

He had a great opportunity to use that step in the allstars game instead he just died with the ball.

Without stating the obvious here there are two types of attacking footballers. There are those with a football brain (Sterling and Johns for example) and those with running skills (Kenny and Slater for example).

Sadly Benji has lost his ability to run and step like he once did and sader still is he simply doesn't (in my opinion) have the footy brain to take the right option all the time. He will on occasions make the right decision but too many times he doesn't. Without labouring this point I think you will see my point.

I am hoping this year he is given the sole job of being used as a runner so that he is able to regain some of that attacking flair he once had....

There was an article on NRL.com recently which clearly stated that Benji prefers being five-eighth and enjoys being able to run wider and found it frustrating trying to be the organiser at halfback.

Just as I constantly argued against a few in here who were adamant Benji was a good 7.

Even Benji himself didn't like being at halfback.

Fools.

In fairness MU, I think that was mainly just Tiger05 pushing the halfback case. 99% wanted Benji back at 5/8.

Yeah Benji looked too big to fly (from either 6 or 7). Sheens is gone and perhaps so too has the globetrotter style ... replaced by increased muscle, a more conservative attacking set and a good kick into the corner ?????
Time will tell.

You're a f**king clown Tiger05. Benji was a shocking 7, he made the team a rabble. How can't you see that? Even Benji has admitted that he's a far superior 6, yet you still think he's a 7. Wow.

I do remember him kicking a 40/20 in the game against the warriors where we came back from 22-4 down in 2011

Benji has said a lot of stuff. Should I accept his opinion when he says his best position is at 7 or 6. This is out of his mouth - one minute it is 7 and the next 6.

I don't see a huge difference in the roles and I think he went pretty good at 7. I also think we have more and better options at 6. Moltzen and Sirro could both play 6.

I think the biggest issue is that Benji (and Robbie up until last year) is inconsistent throughout the season and throughout the game. The number on his back is not the issue. I also think if he gets good go forward and some fast outside backs around him he will do well in either role.

Ink benji did not have a Good game. The point I'm trying to make is that there is a lot of improvement left in benji this year.People are crucifying him after the first game of the season and it wasnt even for the Tigers.

You can start judging him during the season if he doesn't start performing.
