It is an interesting topic but I don’t think that Browny would have them playing no way near as good as they are now. Here are my reasons:-

  • Discipline or lack of under Browny. Having a player like Weyman under Browny I would have expected him to be suspended by now same with Costigan. I noticed in the 1 game Poore played how he looked much more disciplined as well as Young. They usually give away stupid penalties but have not done so, so far. Browny had a great team but they played on emotion. The opposition could easily get under their skin and once they did the team would suffer due to stupid errors. They were easy to coach against imo.
  • If Browny was coach I can guarantee that Micky Paea & Costigan would be playing ahead of Saffy and Prior. Browny picks players on reputation and will only give juniors a run when desperate. I thought the same about Benny but elevating Saffy and Prior and keeping them in the starting side has proved that theory wrong. Prior has been excellent and Saffy is doing well also. Can you believe Hunt was always chosen ahead of these guys? Hunt is good to but these 2 guys have been excellent.
  • Ben Creagh is at his best and playing wide where he belongs . Browny had him playing like a prop doing hitup after hitup and wasting his great service out wide.
  • I heard that in the off season Benny spent something like 40k on suplements to get them right for the start of the season. I heard that Browny only spent 2k. This obviously has a big role as the players look so much stronger than the opposition. After 4 rounds they only used 2 forward on the subs bench which proves how fit and strong they are. Browny would also train them hard but they looked flat in the first 6 rounds.
When Benny signed up I thought it would be a waste of time as he only trains teams with minimum 8 internationals hence his success but he has proven me wrong big time, like Soward did on Friday. It’s still early days but if the Dragons maintain this attitude they will go a long way.

Browny will be a great coach. His problem was that he got thrown in too early. The Strom wanted him as an assistant coach and the Dragions paniced and then elevated him from Jersey Flegg to 1st grade.

Browny also inheritted the curse that Ricky Stuart has now. When the Dragons had Barrett all we would hear about is injuries and suspensions. That is all we hear now coming out of the Shire. Baz is a massive jinx.

I often wonder if and how my life may be different today if I actually spoke more than two words to the girl I had a crazy crush on in year 4, instead of shrinking away like a terrified, timid titmouse. Like in that Simpsons episode where Homer goes back in time, sits on a lizard, zips back to the present and it's raining donuts. It's the butterfly effect isn't it. Would it be raining donuts? I'm not even a big donut fan tbh, I tend to prefer biscuits. Who doesn't love a Scotch Finger.

What have you been smoking mate?!?! I need some of that!

I been smoking some bad granola. But my point was similar to the one Lancelot made in that stirring sonnet: what is past is prologue. No point dwelling on it, no point hypothesising how things may be different.

Dont get me wrong Browney is a good guy.

But, Correct Dragons wouldnt have the Smiths, Weymans etc.

Brown was to "friendly" with the players. Rather then being the "Boss" and doing what was needed it was all "Bad Luck mate" / "you tried mate".

Hence the reason he started wearing the suit to games... to try to distinguish his role as coach from being a player and to look like he had the authority! Bennett can wear the casual training gear and still have the aura that he is in charge!

why do people think costigan is so good in defence?
I saw hodges run around him twice last week, resulting in a try and a near thing

That may have been because he was positioned at centre. His defence is quality in field.

He's awesome tackler, but there's more to defending in the centres than the ability to tackle.

I think the teams wants to play for Wayne, especially those who he recruited have a lot of respect for him. Unfortunately that's not the case with Brownie at the time.

he had a team with 6 origin players, and couldn't get the job done.

Lol that reminds me of my cricket team. We had 6 rep players but we couldn't even win a match!!!

Back to the topic, I think we'd be in the top 8 still with those players under brown but we may have scraped home in all the matches we'd won.
