The guy that did it is a dickhead no doubt.
But this happens at every ground the game is played at, with every team and every teams fans.

If fans were approaching and abusing players in front of their families every week im sure we would hear about it more.

Poor form, and it's these type of dickheads that prevent things like allowing fans on the field after the match.

Why does it matter that it was a player?
Fans abuse other fans and their families week in week out.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars a year but can't cop some stick that the regular football attendee cops every away game.

That's no excuse. Personally I?ve never seen it happen at any game I?ve been to.

Carrying on like that in front of a player's 2 year old kid is just plain wrong and should be dealt with.

How much is his wife making? His daughter? what a geniused comment.

Maybe in the shire that is common but that shit is frowned upon everywhere else, even in QLD.

Anyone who was maggot in the ground didn't watch any footy. The beer lines were out of control.

Who pays to go to a game then is ok with standing in the bar for more than half the game?

Unacceptable behaviour from any fan of any club and if you think your club is immune to it you need to wake up.

The kids on the field was an awesome touch.

I think part of the problem is that shark park is one of those places where you always see the players pre and post game like they are part of the crowd. Obviously it shouldn't matter but we all know what society is like so might be best to come up with another system there. I have never seen players pre or post game at SFS or ANZ, not sure what the other suburban grounds are like.

Shaksta is doing an 'I Bleed Maroon' in this thread.

Hardly, I am saying this is far more widespread than this single instance. Abuse of players and fans is rampant. And that just because this reported instance happens to be a player makes it no more important than if it was any football fan.

I think the thing that makes it a bigger issue is his daughter being present.
He probably doesn't tweet if his missus and daughter aren't there.

The guy was outside the stadium walking to the car with his wife and kid, it is not common for a fan or player to get abused in that situation at all.

This is a fair bit different to some bloke calling out "you suck" from the stands. It would be quite intimidating to a women and child to have a bunch of drunk fans approach and abuse and swear at them.

The issue is clearly the shitty facilities. If players have to come in contact with the public to exit the ground, then there should be ample security for them. Sounds like there was no security in this instance. This doesnt happen at most grounds.

On the field fair game, within the boundaries of social deceny. Off the field I think not. Shame players get hung up by the media, I am sure he could have taught the dckheads some lessons in manners if he had the opportunity!

The changing room situation for under20's needs addressing, maybe with the Sharks new millions they can buy a portacabin?

There's always something to have a cry about with dragons players and fans when they lose the derby.
Boo hoo
A pissed bloke said some mean words
Wah Wah
The old guy cut up a jersey
Sniff sniff
They broke our fence
Cry cry
Someone poured beer on us

Just cop it
Piss poor derby efforts deserve a gob full

:)

Awful to hear about this story, and I'm sure the Sharks will do everything they cant to try and find the culprit, and prevent anything like this in the future.

It's a shame that there are these wankers dragging down the name of league fans. Leaving the ground on Sunday afternoon there was a drunk numbnut giving it to a dragons couple leaving. Nothing too bad, but definitely nearing on over the line. I told the guy to piss off and had a chat to the couple (to calm the bloke down who was nearing on decking the bloke).

Some people just can't handle themselves in public, and they should be discouraged at every opportunity.
