ACL injury ends Nathan Peats' season

f**k, season over.

Without Peats the slide begins, and chances of holding a top 8 spot are out the window.

Pritchard as an 80min first grade replacement? Please no....

Can't we offload Justin Hunt before June 30 and sign someone like Kevin Kingston for the remainder of the season?

The irony, Kingston is hardly an 80 minute hooker either. Not to mention he's over the hill these days. Stop trying to relive the 'glory' days on 09.

To be perfectly honest I would be trying to get John Morris back from the Sharks for the rest of the year and on a minimum salary for the year after. With De Gois and Lichaa they can fill him for this year and with Ennis joining them the year after, I don't see him getting much game time.

His form last year was incredibly underrated and isn't playing half bad this year considering he is working with seven plodding backs every week.

Just bring in a hooker, Pritchard, foran, jones, Kelly etc. Leave bench as is and Paulo can play some mins there. It aren't the best option but all sides get injuries you just need to make the best of the situation. Using Paulo allows us to continue with the same style bench. And he should only need to play ten mins each halve there.

Pritchard if not injured should be good enough, or I can't see why he would be under contract for another year

Big blow.

Pritchard seems injury prone just playing in the 20s so if he gets the nod we will need to consider a backup plan.

I'd give Kelly a run there to start with and maybe Pritchard off the bench.

currently we have Mannah, Lussick, Allgood, Gower, Paulo, Terepo with all having potential to play front row in the team over the last few weeks one of them could quiet easily drop out and allow for a backup hooker off the bench.

Terepo has probably had the least impact in the last month or so and Allgood and Gower will soon be replaced by Mossip and Edwards who would probably be more reliable. I think our pack should probably look a little like:

Mannah, Foran/Kelly, Mossip, Edwards, Ma'u, Paulo: Pritchard, Paulo, Pauli, Lussick.
If BA doesn't want to go away from his one hooker tactic then I would bring Gower or Kelepi into the backrow and push Paulo back to the bench. Peats is a huge loss but I think Foran or Kelly can stand up.

Because we've had some poor head coaches over the past three or more years? Pritchard's played what 80mins of first grade (4x20min stints from the bench)? He's not up to being an 80min first choice hooker for the rest of the season.

Agree with the John Morris idea, Kingston - even Matt Keating? Basically anyone with first grade experience at hooker that is on the outer from their club could be a preferable pre-June 30 option. If not, then get Luke Kelly to tape his ears and have a go.

Spot on mate. I reckon we probably will do as you've suggested - bring in a replacement and if he needs a rest we will use Joe Paulo there for about 20 minutes a game.

Is Ben Jones a chance? He could be the best choice at this point. Has experience and from the wenty games ive watched has a bit of mongrel in him.

Ben Jones is ahead of Liam Foran at this stage, though behind Kaysa Pritchard (at least according to Wenty).

Joe Paulo did it because he had to. That doesn't mean he can do it.

If he plays minutes at hooker, we are screwed. Matt Keating looks slick in comparison to the service he gave.

Paulo has a natural instinct to engage defenders before passing, hooker needs to pass from the ground, and only engage where appropriate. Takes time to learn, which is why it is so important a position.

Yeah Ben Jones would be my pick.

Anyone who suggests that Foran is a chance, needs to be taken out behind the sheds and shot.

It comes down to the balance of our bench. Yeah I agree Paulo aren't a great option for hooker. But if one of Kelly, Pritchard, foran, jones can't play the whole 80 mins but able to play 30 mins each halve do we really want to waste a bench player for another hooker to play 20 mins? Surely Paulo playing 10 mins at hooker each half aren't going to kill our chances, he aren't going win us the game with his time there but he should be capable on putting in a decent effort

who is gonna agree to a 6 month contract ?

if its an 18 month deal they will have to be happy playing at Wenty next year when Peats is fit

not as easy as it sounds

I don't think it's the doom and gllom that everyone is making out at this point

Yes Peats at his best is a massive loss, but he's been way off it for a few weeks.

I reckon the knee has been 80% stuffed for at least a month

Time for the replacement to step up

Pritchard would be my first choice but only if fully fit

He has a heap of ticker and is the best dummy half of the options

Blake Austin would be a great pick up

Could add us much as segyaro has to penrith I reckon

He's also got the mongrel in him

I think our entire attack has lost a bit of momentum with peats being a bit hamstrung lately and not attacking directly enough

I think there's a chance to make some improvements in some areas on what we've been dishing up recently
