would like to know how xerri gets on with flano?
There is paper talk that Kyle and Xerri are very close mates and that could even be more reason for him to sign with Easts. If they are such close mates, then I would assume that Xerri would have spent some time in Flannos home. So that would indicate a closer relationship than just a coach. Flanno has probably known Xerri for a couple of years or more. I am hoping that Flanno can be the lure to get Xerri here. At the moment I also wouldn't mind him bringing Kyle here in the future too.

Weren’t there similar suggestions that Flanagan’s previous link to Cronulla would see procurement of Capewell?

That seemingly didn’t go to plan.

I don't care about us not signing Capewell. I see him as a good fill in player. Xerri on the other hand would be a massive signing and Flanno probably knows it.

You’ve omitted the fact WT are coached by McGuire, a premiership winning coach, It’s much closer to semi final football than SGI under McIdiot.
When they make the top 8 I'll be impressed. Because they missed the 8 last year under McGuire so....you know......

I think we need Merrin and JDB. If JDB is unavailable, then we lack depth and we are also weaker at full strength. The fact that we still have Aitken and Lafai are the problems. At full strength I would have Merrin starting as one of our props, with Graham and K Sims on the bench. If JDB is unavailable then Graham has to start and our bench looks rather weak.
Prop Merrin
Lock Frizell
Edge forward Ford

Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t. However, it’s fanciful to believe Flanagan’s previous connections could help here.
Aitken and Lafai contracts are up at the end of this season. Xerri would be a great replacement for one centre position. Kyle Flanagan and Sullivan would make a great halves combination.

It’s a bit early in the year to be making a new Christmas wish list old mate . Just what could Flanagan offer either of them ? Both Xerri and Kyle will be signed to longer term contracts with their current clubs , whereas we will still have Mary’s favorites in No.3 & No.4.

They were a bit of a rabble under Cleary...you know. It also takes 12 months for a coach to stamp his authority (think Brian Smith in 1991/92).

Completely agree..

Illawarra would have been much stronger without the weight of St George around their neck..

But.. We are where we are.. So best we make the best of a bad situation...

Muzby I have edited my previous post slightly- the 2nd paragraph to clear up what may had been viewed in a different light than to that which I had actually intended.

I was not attempting to attach any blame on either club ( in ALL joint ventures ) but more so to highlight what I see as part of the problem when clubs amalgamate.

Quite simply they are joining as one new entity , but also they will bring their former club management traits along with them - for better or worse.
