Adam Dykes' Injury

We lost because of three reasons:

1. Dykes was gone...we had 4 forwards on the bench and a forward in the halves...left us with only Morris as a kicking option..he's good but wont win u a game.

2. Lockyer was brilliant...his bombs would have troubled any fullback so no-one should say anything bout McKinnon dropping em.

3. Jason Robinson couldnt keep 10m if his life depended on it. They were offside all night...but im sure the message from NRL HQ was "dont penalise Brisbane forwards for not being back the 10 cos they will be tired from origin and we shouldnt disadvantage them" never mind that Hindmarsh was back every time and outplayed every forward out there!! And they scored off a blatant forward pass.

Anyways, we can take a lot from the loss, it wasn't embarrassing and we didnt play bad, we just came up against a better team.
We'll go well next week when Witts back, but it seems we're doomed never to have Witt and Dykes playing together for more than one round...

Took the words tight out of my mouth.

Like him or loathe him, Dykes gives us structure and variety in attack

We went badly missing in attack in the second half because we lacked a halfback - at least Brisbane had the world's best 5/8.

Lockyer was OK; the bombs Wade dropped mostly had reasons ( (1) in the first half, he jumps and gets the shoulder of the tackler in mid-air; this knocks him around and he drops them; (2) second half, Burt and Wade both go for it and slam into one another).

The ref had a shocker - awful 10 metres, VERY bad call on the forward pass try and should have sent a Bronco off. Plus the 'tackle' which resulted in Dykes' injury was a bit late and unnecessary - easily could have been penalised.

The touchies sucked too.

Still, awesome effort.

Anyone who thinks Thorman is the answer think again. He had a shocker tonight in Prem's and he's just far too inconsistent for first grade. Sadly that might have been his last game in the blue and gold for us...

Do you mean Thorman or Dykes' last game in the blue and gold?

Yeah, who knows what contracts mean anymore, with all the rumour talk about letting players go early etc...

I think Tim Smith and Michael Witt should be the Halves pairing for the year now instead of Thorman, Have Thorman on the bench.

We missed Dykes after he was injured last night. Not only did we lose our kicking game but when Morris moved from hooker we lost our punch from dummy half. Dykes form has been up and down, however he has shown more than Witt or Thorman his ability to break the line and set up tries, something those guys have been lacking. Hopefully the diagnosis isn't too bad, the paper said this morning he'd be out for several weeks.

Tim Smith might get a shot.

Brian seems to be playing Witt more as a 5/8 so I'd be expecting to see a team something like

1. Wade McKinnon
2. Ashley Graham
3. Junior Langi
4. Luke Burt
5. Brett Anderson
6. Michael Witt
7. Tim Smith
8. Craig Stapleton
9. John Morris
10. Michael Vella
11. Nathan Hindmarsh
12. Jack Afamasaga
13. Daniel Wagon

14. Dean Widders
15. Lee Hopkins
16. Corey Pearson
17. Justin Tsoulos
18. Chris Armit
19. Chris Thorman

Geez smithy has some tough selection decisions to make. Everyone who is knocking dykes and syaing thorman think again. Thorman is a poor player and really doesnt posess a good kicking game like dykes. Dykes is a better organisational player. I just hope his injurie doesnt keep him out for an extenmded period of timer. We wouldve stayed well in the game if Dykes had not been injured and i felt we were just about to get on top of them at 24 all.

That's good news but whats your source?

even if it is just brusing still I'd expect him to miss 1-2 weeks minimum.

and he can't tackle!! he's a big fat english turnstile!!

i agree, witty/smith, BUT if timmy's not ready for first grade yet they should persevere with thorman until he is, or put morris there, he filled in for the greatest fat arsed halfback in the world didn't he? ;-)

if he was the best pommie player last year it does not say much for the quality they have over there
