This latest year-long madia campaign against Rugby League, sometimes in your face, sometimes subliminal, is nothing more than an attempt to undermine the great game of Rugby League in it's Oz Centenary and World Cup year. The media has nearly all of us believing that the game is at death's door and that is exactly what they want you to think. We are actually far from it and it's time to screw our heads back on. Yes, there are some issues, but none which can't be sorted.

Various groups, usually RU aligned, have been trying to destroy RL for 100 years, their best chance was in RL's formative years. They failed. We exist and aren't going anywhere. RL has come out the other side after being banned in France, banned from the British Armed forces, banned from countless private schools (still is), survived the Super League war and the professionalistion of Rugby Union. The RL exterminators are 100 years too late in OZ.

RL needs to stay strong and work toward making Sydney and Brissy even stronger while also expanding into new territories. Protection of the heartlands in any expansion plans is critical.

The passion at club level for Rugby League in Sydney is an enormous strength that sets us apart from A-League and Rah Rah. It gives us an unfair advantage in many ways and other codes know this. Other codes are trying to push for reduced Sydney RL teams for the sole reason of creating an opening in the market for their product. They can shove their agendas.

The RU and AFL plants in the media will test your resolve and try to erode your passion. Don't listen to them. Get out and support your team and the RL World Cup...and while your at it, bring a few mates, I am.

The passion is both our greatest asset and our greatest weakness.

LordLeague.....totally agree!!!

The best thing true supporters of the game can do right now is get behind your team and the World Cup at the end of the year.

Unfortunately, we need to get the media onside... They are a massive interest group which the NRL needs to be compliant if the game is to suceed. It is simple issues management - we need to look outside how the game operates and see how we can fix it.

Getting to the games is the best thing fans can do. The one shining light the past 2 weeks was 22000 at the SFS, in pissing down rain, and thousands of kids sprinting onto the field to give their heroes a hug.

Yeah, I've noticed that haters think RL will simply fade away like it is just the latest trend or something.

People should be proud of Rugby League, warts and all. It's a part of the Aussie sporting landscape and we shouldn't cop detractors telling us what we are, or what we aren't.

We'll get up and dust ourselves off in true Australian style, and then look out! The completely un-Australian behaviour toward RL in this country is shameful.

The future of the game is in the hands of the grass roots administration & coaching. Those putting their hand up with local junior & senior clubs. Going to watch the NRL supports the end product but it needs more people to get involved at the start point. Most clubs run off the back of the workload of a small few volunteers, & it is tough. The NRL will remain a success for as long as this level keeps the production line rolling.
