That's a bit harsh considering they still have to travel. I dont know the figures but Sydney can still win away from home on a reasonably regular basis, it seems at least. I just think that you can coach any skill except speed & Spriggs has it, well he once did, in spadefuls & there's just no accounting for that.

Not true, mate.

You can't coach for footy smarts and peripheral vision. These are primary weapons in the arsenal of class inside midfielders and are why some players are clearly better than others, even from a young age.

Being able to run like the clappers doesn't help you much if you have trouble finding the football, and can't dispose of it adequately when you do have it.

Until Tambling puts through several goal of the year contenders :) :)

If he turns out to be the sensation they claim he is... Watch the pressure mount on the cream puffs. Especially after the Judd debacle.

For mine 74kgs is too small but we'll see.

Haha...

I don't get fazed unduly by the form of outside midfielders, as when its all on the line, its the inside midfielders who make the majority of play and key forwards who finish most of it.

Actually mate,

I think this is where we are lacking, in Cougs and Johnson we have players prepared to win the hard ball. The type of player Tambling is, is what we need.

If he comes through he will be sensational.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't come through.

For mine, the Tigers would be best served by easing Tambling in across half-forward while Wayne Campbell finishes out his career next season.

Deledio could be used from a bench to rotate with Campbell in the ruck roving position. from 2006 onward, Deledio and Tambling could rotate through ruck rover, with Johnson & Coughlan filling the key centre and rover inside roles.

Tambling would appreciate easing-in throught the HFF, just as long as Richmond doesn't hide him away on a FP. I'm strongly opposed to playing talented youngsters in a forward pocket as it makes them lazy and instills bad habits.

Schwab did this with Croad in 2000 and all but killed his career, and then started doing it with Hodge in 2002! The temptation may be there to put Tambling in an FP to begin with it, but one would hope that the Richmond coaching staff doesn't do it.

Apparently Richmond have invited young Ruory Kirkby to train with them in the lead-up to the rookie draft. Kirkby was understandably devastated to not get picked on Saturday, but it looks as if Richmond may be about to take him with top pick in the Rookie, which would be a good choice, I think.

This will leave Hawthorn free to take either Ben Sharp or Ryan Bain with pick 2, with these players also being All-Australians this season and considered surprises not to have been drafted.

I would expect The Hounds to run with Heath 'Solomon' Grundy as a capable potential kpp type at 3, allowing Collingwood to swoop on the player Hawthorn overlooks at 4.

There are certainly some potential jewels left. Gotta love the rookie system.
