Meltiger

I see Greg Stafford was just saving himself for some serious post-season output... The guy is a fair dinkum 21st century Clark Griswold... What a cack, he blazes a trail across NZ hunting down Spider only to come unstuck in a McDonalds when his clumsy elbows accidentally collide (several times, talk about unlucky) with a pimple-faced burger-flipper.

Hopefully he ordered a salad and Berry Muesli crunch combo before the shit went down in Grenada, which would at least have kept him in the club dietician's good books.

I wonder if you can develop epilepsy in your arms?

Essendon Team to Tackle Port Adelaide Chokers at AAMI Stadium

B: Mark McVeigh, Danny Jacobs, Andrew Welsh
HB: Dean Rioli, Scott Lucas, Sean Wellman
C: Adam McPhee, Joe Misiti, Damien Peverill
HF: Mark Johnson, Mark Bolton, Dean Solomon
F: Paul Barnard, Matthew Lloyd, Damian Cupido
R: David Hille, James Hird, Jason Johnson
IC: Aaron Henneman, Ben Haynes, Marc Bullen, Cory McGrath
Emergencies: Ken Hall, Ted Richards, Mark Mercuri,
IN: Paul Barnard
OUT: Dustin Fletcher (suspended)

Looks like a strong side their, if it rains, that will hopefully negate the loss of Fletcher. Even though we are a poor wet weather side, i think that a wet game might be good for us, considering that Port have a running type midfield, and wet weather would negate this, look for Essendon to try and take it right up to them in the early stages, especially in terms of physicality, watch for Solly and Pickett to go at each other hammer and tongs, no matter where they lineup.....if Essendon can get at Port early, the wobbles will settle in and we should account for them handily.

Well, well, well...

The haughty Bombers peacocked their way into AAMI Stadium thoroughly overconfident about their winning prospects...

Not with good reason, as it turns out. They were well beaten again (very, very flattered by the scoreline), and are now 0-5 against Port from their last 5 outings.

I had to laugh. The word was that they'd rough the Power up and the team would crumble at their feet. What a cack, the Bombers started in with their usual nonsense at the start of play, and even managed to lose out in the rough stuff. The more the game went on the more frustrated the Bombers became and it was a joy to behold them as they bitched and swore and gestured and cried their way to the final siren. I like Hird as a footballer, but he had a shocker last night, and the low point came when he prissed it up and gave up a couple of frees including a 50m penalty. Hird didn't trouble the statisticians in the first half and gave up in the second, deciding it was easier to float across half back and half forward looking for easy kicks. Suffice to say he couldn't even get many of those and only had one worthwhile possession for the entire game. Hird may be a class footballer, but when things don't go his way he gets sulky and petulant, and he was found wanting in adversity on the sportsmanship front yet again last night. Still, at least he is good enough to be forgiven this, which is more than can be said for Damian Cupido. Cupido still has a long way to go before he can get away with the childish, smug and obnoxious crap that he disrespects opponents with everytime he takes to the paddock. He is very lucky that he is playing today and not in the 60s or 70s or the no-nonsense hard men of the game would've ended his career by now.

The Bombers could consider themselves unlucky in that Lloyd obviously wasn't quite right during the match, but this only serves to highlight the fragile 'two man band' nature of the club. Its almost impossible to imagine Essendon beating anyone, anywhere without Lloyd & Hird on the field (and playing well).

Essendon is an incredibly arrogant club, moreso than any other club going around. Few teams have deserved defeat so richly as the Bombers did last night.

Well played Port, well played indeed...
