AFL - hypocrisy!

As the AFL evolved into a national sport they found that with West Coast and Adelaide playing in Victoria every week it started to lose it's appeal. They bought in NSW (who beat up the Vics at the SCG) and QLD and that sort of started the death of it.

Which explains the difference between AFL & NRL.

NRL, at heart a two state competition. AFL, the premier national footballing code in Australia.

This week the biggest things in WA & SA are the Dockers/Eagles & Power/Crows game.

The fact that the NSW/QLD game is your codes premier match shows you haven't evolved into a national competion.

3 actually, with a team based in another county. Something the AFL will NEVER have.

Absolute garbage, ever since the beginning of RL, the focus of all players and supporters has been on representing your country or state, AFL is based on club football always has been. Don't kid yourself that AFL gained ground in Sydney because of anything they did, it was because of the super league war (and the damage it did to all aspects of the game of RL). Also alot of Victorians are living in south-east Brisbane hence the popularity in the Lions, even "Qlder" like Voss can trace their roots to Victoria. Whilst there is hardly anyone moving the other way. Don't forget league is no.1 in NSW and QLD where more than half the population of Australia live and is expected to grow even further. The AFL can have Hobart and Adelaide good luck to them.

Yawn. I should'nt even try and convince you. You all obviously are very close minded and even worried that AFL might take over League.. this is got you making up all kinds of bs about AFL which isnt true.

But im not going to even bother. You hate AFL and would hate it no matter what kind of game it was, if its up against League which you guys love so bloody much then that means you hate whatever could challange it.

Whining won't get you anywhere i'm afraid. How do you expect us, as League supporters, to take AFL seriously with shyte like this...

The difference between The NRL and the AFL is that the NRL is the governing body of the toughest competition of the toughest sport on the planet and the AFL is the governing body of the #1 nancy boy sport in Australia.

Those who can't play or are too scared to play League, Union or even Soccer play Australian Football.

No it isn't national and no it isn't the premier national footballing code in this country.

Part of being the premier code is that someone outside of Australia other than a few hundred Nauraians and 62 Danes have heard of it. AFL can't claim that.

They don't have a choice.

Where people have a choice, AFL isn't the game most people will be watching.

We in NSW and Qld actually get the choice to watch the League and ignore the AFL. And that's what we do.

Name one AFL side that is situated outside an Australian state capital.

I'll do it for you.

Geelong. 70k's outside Melbourne.

There are no others.

The NRL covers....

Illawarra, ACT, Newcastle, North Queensland.

A national competition does not ignore the non-urban areas of that country.

The NRL is more National than AFL will ever be.

And piss off out of the NRL section you slimy goat-reaming bigfooty reject.

Taking the Raw Population figures of the towns above, the AFL has us licked in Australia.

Add in the Gold Coast and the Central Coast...and we're laughing.

this is very debatable and has been done before

why shouldnt nrl be able to include nz when it covers that area also

for wollongong do you include just the wollongong figure or the figure for whole illawarra region -

same with canberra /act

Gold coast and CC will hopefully be added soon

THE nrl will no doubt be much more national once it adds CC and GC

If we do it that way Victoria's 2 million or so Rural population have to be included, and since hardly anyone inside SA & WA lives less than a 1 and a half hour drive away from their capitals, they have to be factored in too. And the Warriors have no influence on our standing as a national comp inside of Australia. They are our claim to being a genuinely regional comp ;-)

We're slightly behind, I'm happy to admit it. RL has plenty of room for improvement, this is pretty Much th AFL at its zenith.

We really need a Saturday night NRL game on FTA, to shut down the AFL on TEN.

I hope we get one on the next contract.

I wonder how many people would watch the Lions in Brisbane if the Cowboys game was going head to head.

We just can't let these idiots get away with a timeslot without a smashing at the hands of rugby league.

That's a myth.

True, the AFL has a greater geographical spread, and the NRL is concentrated heavily on the East Coast of Australia.

But the population of Australia is heavily concentrated on the East Coast of Australia. It is where the vast majority of our entire population lives, so it makes sense for that to also be where the vast majority of the clubs are.

If you look at Australia and New Zealand's top 20 population centres, the NRL has a presence in 9 of them, while the AFL has a presence in 6. And that is even if you count North Melbourne as having a "presence" in Canberra.

Super 12 has a presence in 8.

And you believe Glenn Morrison is worthy of mention in your signature.

If he played AFL his name would be something like Croydon Duckfister III.

If you read the thread webtard, the reasons are easily explained.

The other thing someone like you probably doesn't know is that on Friday Nights, Rugby League outrates AFL nationally and regularly. And Friday nights is the only time that both sports are on in their heartlands against each other and make the charts.

The AFL know what's going on, why do you think that putz Demetriou has been jawing about AFL expansion of late while he has 3 Melbourne teams dying in front of his eyes?

And you really should change your nic, a bloke like Hindy would be embarrassed to have an AFL supporter as a fan.
