Huh? Manuka Oval didn't exist 4 years ago? Sounds like Kyle Schticky needs some stronger meds.

Perhaps we dont need a third team in Sydney, but an actual second one! Not a team that seems to prefer playing in Canberra. There must be more Auskick kids done there to inflate their numbers!

They'd have six Sydney derpys to host in the year, named on the basis of their knowledge of Sydney:

-Battle of the Bridge
-Battle of the Opera House
-Battle of the Botanical Gardens
-Battle of the Wall
-Battle of Central Station
-Battle of Segaworld

The kids of Sydney need an alternative alternative to the sports they actually like.

Why not help the AFL bleed from within, a team in ACT, QLD or NSW would need serious propping up

The thing is, I believe he is genuine and the people with control of the purse strings in Melbourne could probably be convinced to think his way too.

If none of you had noticed we hear a lot about what goes on in Sydney and not a lot about things in Melbourne and vice versa. When I go to Melbourne people are often asking me about the strength of AFL as they genuinely believe it is flourishing up here. That's what they get told. The more you tell a lie, the more people believe it's true and the more people buy into the lies. If they can do it down there, they can manage it up here.

We already have AFL buying up all the sporting fields and bribing local councils to only allow their game to exist and with the predicted population growth in Sydney going the way it is, more and more councils will be under pressure to sell sports fields to developers. Whose will they sell first? The ones that bring them income or the ones that cost them money? We have government officials investing money in AFL because their men get into the ears of government. We have stadiums being heavily funded in Canberra which doesn't even have an AFL team ffs whilst Bruce sits there in desparate need of an upgrade.

If the AFL DO decide to come to the Southern part of Sydney with a view to expanding again (regardless of the quality or success of GWS or the local interest) they will try all the same grubby tactics and will keep spewing out the same lies and bribing the same government officials into favouring their code.

Laughing at them on a Rugby League forum isn't going to stop them. We need our media to start attacking them and publicising some truths about the lack of interest in their code. We need to start being positive about our own code in our own back yard and taking them on.

No GWS was already a massive mistake and regularly gets crowds of 8000 in the west. He's just trying to create some publicity.

If the AFL funded the entire operation themselves, I'd be more than happy to sit back and watch them fail. However, state and local gov'ts are becoming increasingly involved in deals with these pricks, committing taxpayer money to serve an absolute minority on the premise of potential earnings. In the meantime, majority sports, many of which can use the same types of facilities have larger genuine followings and actually need the facilities and funding.

Its a mix of wolves in sheep clothing (AFL), government mis-spending, a (previously) inactive/inept league administration and an agenda driven media that has caused this. One of these things has appeared to have changed in the past 12 months, its up to the ARLC to get into the ears of both the gov't and media and tell them that we aren't going to cop this shit any more. Its an insult to the people of Sydney to piss their money down the drain and lie to their faces about it being well spent.

Newcastle, as Australia's 7th largest city, surely deserves a team.

I also like the southern sydney/south coast thing. Could be called "St George Illawarra"

I always thought Newy was the 6th biggest city in Australia what are the 6 bigger than it?

big hit!

This Giants in Western Sydney BS is a joke if you ask me. technically they are (Olympic Park is the beginning of it), but only just. It's primarily AFL spin. Their training facility is less than 200m walk from the suburb of Homebush (DFO complex is the border) which is in Strathfield LGA and not in the Western Sydney region at all. Yet Penrith, Campbelltown and Windsor are substantial distances in the other direction. The AFL are just going to be eating up the support they already have in the Hills District and the Inner West with this team. Why the f**k would anyone living in Western Sydney want to travel to Olympic park every second weekend (if they even play here) when they sit in traffic jams on the 4 and 5 every other day. f**k that. The 4 bottleneck between Parramatta and the Olympic Park exit is a car park on a good weekend.

Melbourne spuds who have no clue about how this place works.

Clearly trying to stoke some interest and discussion in afl when clearly they aren't being talked about in new and nobody cares

There has been some concern for some time about shoodys mental state, this just confirms it. The ants are a huge financial burden of the Anglo-Irish game coffers along with the thuns. Far from putting a 3rd team in Sydney they should unload the ants to Tassie. I am more than happy for vFL to spend 100's of millions on a club and a game that is not wanted in NSW, as it empty's the Anglo-Irish game's coffers.

How about before we start commenting on how the Giants are going, we have a discussion on how the Swans are going after last years premiership and after 30 years based in Sydney...

Falling crowds and TV ratings down form the dizzy heights of a 100K in Sydney 10 years ago to now half that....

Yes, lets bring in a third Sydney team on the back of that support, on the basis that the Giants have 12,000 members ( the majority of whom are from outside Western Sydney)

That has to be stupider than every stupid thing Homer Simpson has ever said combined. It certainly has to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life. Slim Shady, do your body a favor, stop making a fool of it!
