I hate the idea of a draft, to me all it does is create a merry go round where each team has a period of dominance then years in the wilderness. I also like the idea of of the core of a team being representative of that area, and the tribalism that goes with it. I’d prefer the clubs that don’t produce juniors to be shafted or relocated. The salary cap is difficult and far from perfect but at the very least it generally leads to a very tight comp. even this year we nearly got the spoon but were a mathematical chance until pretty late. My favoured option would be that development clubs like us, get some type of salary cap “help” for maybe 3-4 long term locally produced juniors. That would encourage clubs to invest in grass roots, and compensate us for the amount of money we pour into development at the expense of instant success.
