Jeff Farmer beat up his girlfriend, and played on, Tevita Latu was sacked immediately. Farmer later broke a team mate's cheekbone and assaulted a security guard in two other separate incidents, and he played on...

Their God is a bloke who sat in a room and watched as an underage girl died from an overdose.

Their King is a bloke who screwed his best mate's missus then went to America and allegedly assaulted his girlfriend....

Unfortunately we need to ignore other codes and concentrate on cleaning up ours.

Sorry pal but I'm sick of the double standards and when media/tv dollars play such a vital role in the financial heath of the various codes, I think it stinks that RL could take a bit hit in this regard simply because of continual unbalanced reporting.

The amount of people that I have heard say they giving up rugby league and sending their kids to play AFL has been astounding over the last few days.

Sure we need to clean up our act and that's happening, but when another code takes the moral high ground when their culture is even grubbier then RL fans have the right to be pissed off.

It's a shame their aren't enough rugby league journos out there willing to stick up for their code and expose what has gone on in AFL.

I'm sure if 4 Corners did some digging on the AFL they would get one heck of a story. But the general media response would be nothing compared to what has occured with the Sharks' incident. It would die an easy death like the alleged O'Loughlin/Burgoyne/Heuskas and Brisbane Lions' incidents did.

The CODE OF SILENCE in AFL is staggering.

And get used to it because every incident, minor or otherwise, is going to be dredged up by morally bankrupt media over the next two years.

The problem is that they have the media totally onside and we have no one to defend our code and remind everyone just how low a code AFL really is. Chippy will be turning in his grave.

The concerted effort to turn Sydney into an AFL city has begun..

thats a great post mate, i would be sending it to as many media outlets as possible, or adding it to the comments section at certain media websites. the thing is, people actually believe the lies that are being reported about the afl, people genuinely believe they have a clean sheet because of the code of silence. yes, we need to clean up our act, but we dont need to be seen as the sleezy code when they are worse incidents being swept under the carpet from a code which has a history of off field incidents who is trying to win our supporters.

You should hear the free kick that AFL fans and commentators are giving NRL in Melbourne.

Ive only been in town a week and the SEN (Radio sport talk back channel) is absolutely caning League.

Someone just rang in and said whats the difference between what was on 4 corners and a incident involving Carlton players recently.

And the commentator literally said "Well there was no police charges etc." (As in I mean he said etc! and then finished the call!

Also some of the lack of knowledge, one of the radio guys thinks Fatty's name real name is Patty Vaughn, and on more than one occasion has called Matty Johns, Matty Knight.

My point I supppose is that the message of the 4 corners program has been lost, and its being used as a freekick to bash the NRL.

BTW, people who refer to culture as something that can be put in place like it is some type of physical commodity which can be bought or sold have truly no idea.

Yesterday was the first day of the AFL's real push into Western Sydney. They have the media in their pockets and they're going to discredit Rugby League at every opportunity.

You guys can sit back and wear it, but we won't. We'll be fighting back with, or without you.

What sh*ts me most about the current situation is that "the NRL must change it's attitudes towards women" line that's been thrown around.

All well and good to say, but it shows a complete lack of knowledge on the issue. Most clubs put in place these sorts of courses and whatnot for this very matter almost 5 years ago in the aftermath of Coffs. MOST players get the message. Facts are, just like in speeding/drink driving and domestic violence and murders and whatnot - there will always be a small number of d!ckheads more than willing to flout ANY rules put in place to do something stupid. Thinking we can stop it is naive.
