There is one player that I can recall who came from top level American Football to League.

And what you said didn't happen.

Try again.

ONE player! WOW!!! so bloody what? The fact is the majority of NFL players have no stamina and can't tackle if they're offence players! The fact that every NFL team has to have a Defence and Offence team is proof of how one dimensional and unskilled they are!
I was watching the AFL footy show ages ago in melbourne, and they had an ex-AFL player who was currently playing in the NFL who said that NFL players have it much easier than AFL players, they rarely have to concentrate on more than one job.

You say the word facts like it means you have an argument?

What's your precedent?

You don't have one so you don't have an argument.

I have one and as far as I know he's the only one.

Would you like to know WHO brought him to play Rugby League?

You haven't argued one point of my statement yet, it's you that doesn't have anything to refute my argument with.

NFL is a great sport and i watch it regularly in the Australian summer months.
It is without doubt the most technical game in the world with all the plays, special teams, offence, and defensive teams. They have 10000000 coaches on the sidelines for every little thing and no stone is left unturned.
Australians love cricket and thats a stop start game so i dont see the difference with NFL.

The difference is you don't spend 75% of the time your supposed to be watching cricket watching bloody power-drill commercials!

i would rather that than Bill Lawry trying to sell Steve Waughs first ever cricket bat in between everyball. "Just 3 easy payments of $1000 to own steve waughs bat...only 500 ever produced" (yes the sarcasm is on purpose in case you cant read between the lines)

I love cricket, but dont knock NFL because they have commercials....and dont think they are every 5 minutes each as they are not

You have no argument.

There is one top line American Football player who played in the NSWRL to my knowledge.

You keep saying that NFL players couldn't handle League but there's only been one precedent to my knowledge, one which you obviously know nothing about.

Then you post something that you "heard on the AFL Footy Show ages ago", yet you can't confirm that statement with a link.

You have no argument.

Here's one for you, I'll try find the link later, but back in the 50's an American Rugby League team made up of NFL players and a couple union players came over and spent months getting coached in how to play rugby league, they were called the "American All Stars", they assumed with their great NFL experience etc that they'd be able to hold their own, but played something like 15 matches over several months and got absolutely killed by every team exept 2 2nd south NZ league teams who they beat by a couple points... I have to go now, but I think article should be somewhere on rl1908.

I'd have to say out of all the sports: NFL, AFL, RU and RL, NFL players would be least likely to succeed in the other 3... several English Rugby Union players (who never made the national team) have gone to NFL and a couple of AFL players have aswell, but to be successful in NFL you only need to be good at ONE thing! Try putting an NFL player into a game of league with no padding! He might pull off a few hit ups, but when the 6 are up he'd deep sh*t because he'd be yelling "I can't do this! I'm not a Deee fence player!"

since when is League THE sport to be compared to????
Why have ZERO league players made the big time as players in the NFL...and NOOOOOOO i am not talking punters. I am talking wide recievers, running backs, defensive linesmen, offensive linesmen etc...players that actually DO something.
Your argument has holes alllllllllll the way thru it.

thats like putting a team together of League stars to play against the NFL teams...the league teams would be HAMMERED. League "defensive linesmen or offensive linesmen" would be SMASHED as they are so undersized!!!!!!!!!!!
Dont compare league to NFL...treat them on their OWN individual merits.
Americans dont claim to be good at league, and australians dont claim to be good at NFL.

NFL teams have scouts everywhere, if they thought he would make a good NFL player then they would give him the big $$$ (well at least bigger than NRL $$$) and give him that chance. As it stands no league player has ever played NFL in a ball capacity role...i.e NOT a kicker/punter

Well, as usual, you're confused.

A) One of those players played for a NSWRL side, but that was later.
B) They played 18 matches in Australia.
C) They won 3 matches and drew 2. The 3 matches they won in Australia weren't against "2nd south Island" teams. One team they beat was Newcastle.

"But the novelty wore off quickly. The Americans were beaten 52-25 and in their next match at the SCG, against NSW, just over 32,000 saw the Americans thrashed 62-41 in a farcical match. It was too much to expect a team of novices, most of whom had never seen a game of rugby league, to be competitive against one of the game's most powerful nations. "

http://rl1908.com/rugby-league/American-Rugby-League.htm

And by the way,

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to rub your nose in it again.

"One redeeming aspect was the decision of Al Kirkland, the best of the Americans, to stay in Australia. He worked at St Marys Munitions Factory in Sydney's west and joined the Parramatta club in 1956. He started the season as a winger but learned the game so well that he played some matches in the centres or five-eighth. He appeared in all 18 first grade matches in 1956 and scored four tries. It was his only season in Sydney football. "

That tends to put the mocker on your assumption that American Football players couldn't make the grade in Rugby League. Even though it was 50 years ago.

If any NFL players would be suited to the NRL its the CB or SS. They do defensive work whilst also sometimes running returns and kickoffs....

Guys like Charles Woodson

no NFL player would want to play League anyway as the $$$ are way toooo low in the NRL as compared to the NFL.

Yeah if you are a good kicker you are worth up to 1.5m!!!!!! just silly for kicking the ball....for what is the most part directly in front.....

As well as 600k for a decent punter, a top line Quarterback would receive upwards of 6-8million not including endorsments

there are the punters too like Darren Bennett who started his career with the SD Chargers. I am suprised not too many AFL players have been lured across there to act as punters. Having said that, Punters are regarded as bottom feeders in terms of respect in the NFL.

I think the NFL remain a little patriotic..... They scout in Europe, particularly Germany, and yes...Scotland, they find alot out there.....

Honestly with so many athletes playing RU and RL I don't know why they don't see Johnny Wilkinson or Hazem El Masri as a very good FG option...

College Football, their massive ranks, are really all they need, but some come from other areas, the obvious one comes to mind is Kurt Warner
