From Telecrap this morning (can't find a link)

NO VOTE IN PARRA ELECTIONS

Four candidates have withdrawn from the Parramatta Football Club elections, meaning that tonight's much-publicised election has now been settled.

Once source said "There are seven spots and seven nominees - there is now no need for the election."

Nathan Cayless, Michael Johnson, Geoff Gerard and Mario Libertini had nominated but last night withdrew.

John Kolc and Steve Sharp automatically win places on the seven man board, which includes Ray Price, Roy Spagnolo, Eric Grothe Snr, Sid Kelly and Robert Sassen.

I'd read something yesterday about Dr Johnson withdrawing... so now with no vote on at all there's need to head out for the AGM?

Shame about Cayless withdrawing too - unless he's gained a "promise" about getting a rails run for the LC Board as a result?

So the new FC Board will be:
Spagnolo
Price
Grothe Snr
Kelly
Sassen
Kolc
Sharp

Ah, Pricey... another two years of his "media skills" can begin!

Cayless just has to be gunning for a big run at the LC Board, surely?

He'd look like a fool otherwise, coming out in the papers about how he was running for this and then meekly withdrawing...

this will probably mean Spagnolo and Kelly will be the members of both boards.

It will be interesting to see if this is a result of back room maneuvering that will be a step towards everyone working together and not taking the fight to the press. The leagues club vote may go the same way with most positions organised without the need of a vote.

A very sensible approach by all IMO.

Not much point attending the meeting! Not impressed about Kolc being on considering he was part of the old regime. Pity about Cayless, sure his time will come.

It does seem quite hypocritical for the incumbent Board to terminate his employment and to wax lyrical about his dirty deeds in the Board Report, yet then fall on the sword and allow him to be elected unopposed.

How come ?

I knew you'd be able to blame the board for it somehow
