Hey macavity i didnt catch up with you guys but I was there. I asked the question about the psychological health of the team. I guessed that u may have been from the forum when u asked your question. Hill and co did not answer any questions directly or with any depth. He answered in a very political manner and is obviously the front man for the board it will be interesting to hear how the new chairman speaks.
Saw you there Cram, I tagged along with Macavity. I pretty much agree with all of macavitys observations, the thing that struck me was the amaturish way the whole thing was conducted, it reminded me of one of our fishing club meetings (Well maybe that's an exageration) Chiefs parents came across as not much impressed by the board, as did the ady with them who I suspect was Barbra Davis, an old foe of the present board members. What did you think of the exchange between Butts, and Hill Cram, I got the impression there was no love lost there. Anyway having seen first hand how things are done, I think a supporter based board member would be a good thing, the problem will be getting the numbers to get one elected. I know macavity is keen that should happen, and having met him, and and heard cram speak I don't think it would be hard to find a candidate. They were two of the better speakers from the floor I thought.

I was pretty unimpressed with how it was said that they didnt have the capability to maintain large amounts of members to the club, I mean they have an entire city behind them you'd think that they'd go out of there way to attract members, instead they dont give a sh!t.

Very worrying.

They actually said that their money would be better spent in other areas than encouraging memberships. In other words the return on memberships didn't warrant spending large amounts of money and rescources on it.

Oh I see, sorry misunderstood.
No need to appologise, I agree with you that it's dissapointing that membership doesn't warrant greater interest from the club, I can see where their coming from though. Mind you if they did away with the membership package, which is worthless really, and just give you a card for your $35.00 then it may be more worthwhile to them. Then again I suppose by the time they post out annual reports etc, they still wouldn't be making much on it.

Maybe have the annual report available on request? And for people who have access to email which is just about everyone, email the information through.

I just cant fathom that membership - an income stream for the club - isn't worth doing. I think Nuffy and I worked out that it cost an average of $22 per member for membership for the year.

Hello Board - membership is $35 per year. THATS $13 PROFIT PER MEMBER PER YEAR!

The fact they dont want to bother with a potentially profitable side of the club is a reason why this club is going down the drain...

The accounts say that the average membership costs the club $22 but theres not a chance in hell thats what its costs the club to run the program, that money is being used to subsidise something else.

The new "team" in charge seem to live in the same la la land as the old "team", the club has some major isses that must be addressed before it can move forward.

I feel that Hill deserved life membership but I'm also filthy that he came out in the press today and indicated that things needed to change as the club was falling further behind.

A simple question really.....................................why weren't we doing things to correct the decline, 3 years ago, why have we left it until this debacle for action to be taken.

Unfortunately for Hill, his good legacy will be tarnished somewhat by the lack of action and leadership in the last 2-3 years of his chairmanship.

Antonious, yes obviously Butterfield and Hill are not happy campers. I think the AGM can be summed up this way. It was memorable more for what was not said rather then what was said.

There was more in todays paper then what was said last night.

The message is loud and clear but despite Hill's war footing message of "we will survive" between the lines I read we are fu...ed

Is this the same Barbra Davis who founded the "Aussies for the ARL" movement aka the ARL's private Gestapo during the ARL/Super league war?

Out of that garbled mess I think your asking was she the lady that formed Aussies for the ARL? The answer is yes, she's a proud and passionate Knights supporter and proud and passionate rugby league supporter ( pity there aren't more like her). Does that answer your question?

Ahhhh yes, I remember now! She started "Aussies for the ARL" as a self-righteous, ego-driven crusade against the big bad Super league comp. And if memory serves me well, she was instrumental to the many witch hunts and propaganda stunts that took place against anyone aligned to Super league. Goebbels would've been proud
