You have to remember where we were when we signed George Williams.
We started the season well, but Sezer was injured. Sam Williams came in and played some fairly solid football, and managed to keep Sezer in NSW Cup when he regained fitness.
Then, as is Sam Williams way, he became an absolute pedestrian. We dropped out of the top four and the Knights moved in (remember that? The Knights were in the 4 at the halfway mark of the season).
Stuart rolled the dice and brought Sezer back in for Williams, and Sezer was once again, fine. Not great, just fine. We were winning games because of Hodgo, Wighton and CNK and we didn’t have a halfback that looked capable of taking us all the way. So Stuart signed George Williams, which seemed like a no brainer.
This seemed to be the rocket that Sezer has needed for years, and he suddenly upped his game massively - particularly his defensive game.
And now we’re here. Obviously Sezer is playing his best footy now, but the decision to sign George Williams was 100% the correct one.
