Alarming thoughts from the Supercoach

After listening to Coach Sheens on WTV from the Official Website I am beginning to wonder whether he is still the full quid.

Sheens stated he is not convinced Head is up to First Grade Standard for the next 6 weeks, and that he was only bought as an option half should injuries arise.

He then rambled on with the usual rubbish about Head being not strong enough, not being fit enough. Then came the gibberish about Head having to learn our style and learn our plays when thefact remains without him he ran around like headless chooks with no style and no set plays. When in 18 months has one John Morris learnt any style or any plays??

I am a little bit concerned about what is going on inside that head of Coach Sheens. Rumours were rife that he had gone mad in the Tropics back in 2001 and I am wondering if he is suffering a re occurance. Or whether it is another simple matter of the usual ego and stubborn behaviour regarding selection politics coming to the table.

We are now seemingly left in the position where in order for Matt Head to get a game, we have to hope that Farah is injured. Which is a ridicoulous situation. Sheens effectively saying we will only be playing 1 of our 2 best players this week and in the next 6 weeks, with Morris a certain starter and Marshall thrown straight back in.

I wonder if T Sheens actually believes what he is saying sometimes? Or the Big ego is out there looking to prove fans wrong. I heard him today give another serve to Benji, saying he played a shocker and was woeful in the test match last season. How about Mr SHeens takes a look in the mirror? One day he might wake up and realise some of his selection, recruitment and interchange/make up of the bench howlers over the past 3 seasons are having far more effect on this club then anything else.

Not sure what to make of that interview.

On one hand he acknowledged that Head provides a better kicking game. Then he rambled on about his fitness, where he said he wouldn't be 100% for another five or six weeks. Which is true, fine.

However, he's proven that he's fit enough to play and play quite well. Of course he has plenty of improvement left, however this improvement will not come playing in the NSW Cup alongside assorted dross and hacks FFS.

He did mention that Morris can play "a number of positions, so we have some options". Hopefully that is code for: Morris will no longer be playing in the halves - somehow I doubt it though.

I never know what to think after listening to Sheens.

You can always hope that this is merely an amusing practical joke to scare his growing list of detractors

So, Head has had a couple of good games for you guys, good on him and good luck to him. But really, Sheens is right...well in the sense that there are doubts whether Head can carry this form for weeks at a time, whether he is fully fit and everything. Don't get me wrong, I think Head is an awesome player, I was really disappointed when he left and I want him to go well, but this time last year he was struggling too and ever since his injury he was never quite the same player. I would like to see at least eight weeks out of him as opposed to two.

Mate I do see where you're coming from and do agree to an extent, i.e. Head has played two FG NRL games in 12 months, new to the team, hasn't played with Robbie OR Benji and so on. However, in the two games he's played for us, he's shown an inordinate amount of potential, and much more than what Morris has in 18 months. The simple fact is Morris is not a FG halfback, Head is. Head may have fitness issues, and may take time to gel with Farah and Benji when they're both back. But I'd rather have some teething issues in that regard than persist with Morris when it's clear he's not up to scratch.

f**k, Head with two broken legs, a snapped spine and concussion is a better half than Morris in the greatest form of his life.

It's a f**king no-brainer.

If we take Sheens comments seriously, Head is not fully fit, 5-6 weeks away from it.

How does this make Morris look, not only is Head's performance towelling him up, but he's not even fully fit yet. Morris' fitness has never been questioned.

So a fully fit Morris isn't as good as an unfit Head.

If Head plays like this unfit, imagine what he'll do once fully fit. Well I'll save you dreaming about it, he'll be the greatest player the NSW Cup has ever seen

Good point.

Sheens is just keeping both grounded, he know 3 wont go into 2 and is just trying to keep all partys concerned on their toes

Matthew Head has been sensational in the last two weeks compared to every single 1/2 back we've had since Scott Prince played his last game for us. He's been very good by any standard.

A 1/2 fit Head at half back is better than anyone else at the club fully fit.

Tim should be more worried about getting rid of the type of f**k-up we had against Canberra where we had Moltzen on the bench, lost a forward and basically played the game with 15 players and got run down.

Now hang on. I can see where Coach is coming from with this. Suspect that the way it will pan out... we won't have Head for much longer anyway. He'll be gorne at the end of the year, once WT get talked into not making him a priority. After all, we have the SuperHalf. Being only signed for this season to cover injury, why not use him when things get desperate, and Coach needs to jag a win or 2. Once the win/loss is back on track, J-Mo can be wheeled back out, for more rounds. Lather, rinse, repeat. Head is going to be too expensive by the end of the year, to re-sign, anyway (what with a far greater Halfback to fit under the cap, and all). J-Mo is obviously the goods for 09, 10, 11, 12... Then we have to also consider playing Farah into form, as a possible NSW Halfback. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Rupert you have hit the nail on the head. Shines will do anything to ensure the morris sojourn is the one persisted with in the face of all logic. Morris has been a disaster and a failure and everyone bar the stubborn prick can see it

Tigers don't have a habit of resigning their dud buys.

But because they offer these duds so much, the only clubs that can afford to buy them are all in England.

Sheens is stark raving mad! I realised this from listening to his ramblings at the start of 2005 - Disappointed to lose star players like Senter, Moodie and Buetner??? Forced to play Farah and Benji??? The guy is a complete nut job.

We can only hope that the planets align and the injury gods take out the mongs so Sheens is 'forced' to play his lesser favoured players (talented gun players)

In 05 Benji would have been playing centre if he had been able to call upon Reynolds more often. Let's not forget round 1 ninja ... Robbie Farah was running around for Balmain whilst the NRL side had Ben Galea at 9 with Benji Reynolds in 14 off the bench as the relieving hooker ... or last yr having moodie ahead of Lawrence. The man is a senile, past it, obstinate, stubborn prick

It`s got to be a gee up, surely ???
We can win the comp with Matt Head at halfback, we could still run last without him !

Been out of town for a few days--shock horror==. Picked it like a dirty nose last week. Coach Shines only ever signed Head to get the mob off his back. He never ever wanted to use him and was seen as insurance at very best.

How gutted was Mr 550 after Heady turned in back to back MOM's. Anyone who thinks Shines still has his marbles are dreaming. If Head is punted all fans should boycott our next home game
