Maybe this is the appropriate thread to just put this up. Feel free to delete mods if it violates rules.

A good mate of mine is cycling from Brisbane to Wollongong at present and is a bit over halfway. He's raising money for Spinal Cure Australia, which seems pretty relevant for this thread, after another mate hurt himself a few years back and has unfortunately been in a wheelchair since. With the Alex McKinnon incident in mind the NRL have donated a signed Kangaroos jersey that'll be going to auction to help raise funds also, which is listed on the facebook page.

If anyone has a spare few dollars about it's a great cause to donate to.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-...pital-to-continue-rehab/5822900?section=sport

Alex McKinnon has been released from hospital for the first time since suffering a spinal injury in an NRL game in March.
The former Newcastle Knights forward on Friday wrote on social media of his elation at leaving the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Sydney.
"Well this concludes 7 months of inpatient rehab Yew! Finally out & finally back with Teigan," he wrote.
"We would love to thank all the staff at Royal Rehab you've been unreal.
"Improvement is slow but excited to start my new stage of rehab, a change in environment but the same goals."

I believe that he might have done some sessions with the same people that got John Maclean walking again. I think Simon Dwyer was giving it a crack as well

Great news if true.

Alex has most definately been to the same clinic that Maclean used to walk again. He spent some time up there in the leadup to Christmas. The idea behind that treatment and Neuroplasticity is really interesting.
