people are looking way too into this, it looks to me like a few of the players that played in the muslim league, now play at souths. they were either not good enough to make the a grade side, or they are just a bunch of friends wanting to play footy together and went down to souths to have a run in the 2nd div. they arent turning away infidels from their team, they arent building a mosque in the clubhouse, theyre just playing footy. this was newspaper filler for sure.

There was a time when catholics were precluded from being captain of Australia!

There was a Jewish rugby league competition in Sydney in the 1920's [ALP polly Sid Einfield played in it]. Various teams have largely been made up of certain ethnic groups or demographies since footy started. That souths in brisbane are trying to grow the game in a community that is not traditional league territory is to be applauded.
