To the union defenders show us where rugby league officials have done whatever they can to undermine rugby union. Rugby League officials are too busy undermining their own game but at least the product stands strong. Rugby Union officials have tried their damndest to thwart rugby league. Historical evidence is overwhelming in France, England, South Africa, Italy, Yugoslavia and now Serbia, Holland, Wales, New Zealand. I'm sure there are others. Stop being pathetic apologists for your code.

BTW Yanto, your paranoia is well founded.

Stop living in past mate . I understand what Yanto is trying to do and goodluck to him .
Lets not forget Yanto also helps out a union club in Holland but if there is one or two anti league guys there .
Lets not blame the whole of rugby union or the IRB . Deal with those indivituals but don't blame the other 99% rugby union players and coaches who are very understanding and even play both .

Start a new league club or go and promote the game to soccer players or wrestlers etc .
There are over millions and millions of people in those countries . Why ca't you go and get kids of the street ?
In Hong Kong kids who are homeless and never knew rugby exist are now playing rugby union .
Take a leaf of their book .

Who gives a toss about club rugby union in OZ just as who gives a toss about club rugby league in OZ .

Uhh, Manly Rugby League Club average 15k in 05. Manly Rugby Union Club averaged what, 1500? Don't bring the professional vs amateur debate into this. The reason why League went fully pro was because it could sustain itself and had the interest to expand.

Lol. Can't they all be clubs? Club, as opposed to state or country.

Manly Warringah District Rugby League Football Club
Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club

Do you see the similarities?

Does manly rugby league club play in the same comp as NZ Warriors, Sydney City, Brisbane, Melbourne ?

Does Randwick rugby union play in the same comp as Waikato, NZ All Blacks, Perth ?

You're not being very coherent, sweety. Can you please outline your argument in a way that "dumbnuts" can understand?

Manly played in the domestic Sydney league, which expanded to the NSWRL and then further to the NRL (via the ARL.)

Manly Marlins/Randwick played in the domestic Sydney Rugby Union competition, which never expanded because no one gave a sh*t.

Manly started playing football in 1947 in a suburban league. The league then expanded into what now is the NRL. This included the international club that you named. If people gave a rats about club union in this country, it too would have expanded.

The club rugby scene is still overwhelmingly amateur. However, it has expanded into a hugely successful provincial competition (now the Super 14, and soon to be the Super 15, with five Australian provincial representatives).

Manly rugby league club was always professional, if my memory is correct, which kind of helped a little bit in attracting players.

If you want to debate the comparative success of the NRL and the Sydney club competition, go right ahead. The NRL is stronger and more successful.

However, if you want to talk about a genuine international competition, look no further than the NRL for reasons why it will never exist in rugby league.
The NRL throttles the life out of rugby league world-wide.

Enjoy your taste of the big time at Brooky. That's about as far as you will go.

Sydney's/"Australia's" Club Rugby competition didn't expand into the Super 12. It was purely an initiative between News Limited's Pay TV arm and SANZAR. Randwick, Manly and whoever else have next to nothing to do with the Super 12. It hardly even acts as a feeder competition. Super 15?

If you want to debate the comparative success of the NRL and the Sydney club competition, go right ahead. The NRL is stronger and more successful.

This is pretty self evident and hardly even relevant.. The whole 'debate' is based on a single stupid comment made by Polynesian Warrior. "Who cares about club rugby in Australia," or something to that effect.

Enjoy your taste of the big time at Brooky. That's about as far as you will go.

What a cute little uppercut on the run through. I'd like to know a single Rugby club team from outside of Australia who average higher than Manly. I'm not talking about Super 14, which clearly is not a club competition. There wouldn't be many.

Obviously it was a bait and I'm not going to get into a slanging match over such absurdities. At the end of the day, Polynesian is an idiot and his original comment carries no weight.

Who knows what he meant? But the fact is that there are no New Zealanders playing Super 14 or Wallaby football in Australia. There are players who have New Zealand born parents, and even some who were born in New Zealand.

But, whether we like it or not, there is open travel and immigration between our two countries, so New Zealanders are most welcome to move here if that will improve their lives. If their kids then become Aussies and want to play for the Wallabies, well, that surely is their choice. Why wouldn't they want to play a full part in their country of adoption?
