there is a few others, but nothing worth mentioning, but like any book, or doco it's never going to fully follow it to the letter.

yeah I had assumed they added in the arch enemy and long killshot to add to the story. seemed to coincide with his last moments on tour all too neatly.

I didn't feel like it detracted from the story all that much though.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if he had a killshot at 1600m though. Our own army snipers have confirmed kills at 1200m and i know of one guy who killed a goat at 1600m in the ghan.

What was falsified?

He never shot a child
The main antagonist for the movie never had any interactions with him at all (the other sniper)
He was interested in joining the military out of school, it wasn't seeing terrorist attacks that spurred him on
He was rejected by the Navy initially
He didn't decide not to re-enlist because he couldn't handle it psychologically, it was because his wife told him she'd leave him if he didn't (in the movie she does this but he re-enlists anyway)
The whole thing with the weapons cache under the guys floorboards never happened
He joined the military in his early 20's, not at 30
The whole Butcher thing was largely made up

Maybe I knew too much about the guy going into the movie but I couldn't take it seriously given the amount of main plot points they'd made up or exaggerated.

how is it that you know so much about him?

He was on the Opie & Anthony radio show a couple of times, I read his book because of that and developed an interest in him/his career/military life etc. He was a really interesting guy with a great story, the circumstances of his death, as tragic as it was, is also extremely interesting to me. I was a "fan" I guess you could say.

The movie is largely a work of fiction. So much of this shit was made up, it is frustrating. Such an interesting story and for whatever reason Hollywood decided it still needed to be exaggerated and falsified.

It's the same thing as Braveheart. But that doesn't make them any less good as films, they are just telling a story.
These movies aren't pretending to be docos. They are works of fiction based on a real-life subject.

Enjoyable film, slight glorification of war. The film will, hopefully, make people think about the sacrifice servicemen make every day to keep their country safe.
