Okay... just some small changes have happened in the US this week....

Announced on the evening of November 8th, 2022 the Commission for Rugby League in the United States (USARLC) will be taking the reins on the governance of the sport in the USA. Appointed to the independent Executive Board is former Fiji 7s team manager, Rob Kauvesi. Joining him is lawyer Mark Nichols who served extensively with the Major-League Baseball (MLB) as an investigator. Along with Daniel Fale Chairman of Pacific Sports International.
The heavy hitters added to the Advisory Board are John Paul Basile who has previously worked for the NBA and done extensive research on the viability of the sport in the US market. Former USA Captain and NRL player David Nui joins the advisory board along with Peter O’Doherty from NAB Creative who brings a wealth of experience from his service on tourism boards.
Other changes are the USA Men’s program will no longer be under the control of Sean Rutgerson, Drew Slover and Peter Illfield and instead will be managed by the Commission who intend to announce new management and coaching staff along with Internationals before the end of November.

The commission has made plans available on their intention to revive the All Stars the, original USA side who in 2023 will celebrate then 70th anniversary.
The USA Redtails will return as the National Womens team seeing founder Garen Casey restored as the Head of Operations. With USA National 9s winning coach Tiffanny Faaee appointed as head coach. A landmark move in the game to give the role to an extremely qualified and experienced coach.
The winning formula for the USA Wheelchair side remains, as they continue to represent our country at the World Cup. Juan Jasso as Director and Geoff Mason as Coach. It is believed they will retain the contract for the next three World Cup cycles with an option for another three to be exercised at the end of 2030.
The AMNRL will return as the competition in the North with former USA Captain and World Cup star Mark Offerdahl taking the reins with veteran attorney Chris Martin as competition manager.
The three team USARL South competition remains under the control of Billy Nelson and Andrew Slover.
Utah based George Tupou has been appointed as representative for the West Coast, the former AMNRL Utah Avalanches coach is joined by American Fijian legend Anasa Koroitamana.
The inclusion of Pacific Islands representatives marks a sign of the future with more than 50% of the current players in the USA National Rugby League with heritage from the islands.
The process has begun with the independent Executive Board constructing an equitable constitution that provided equal opportunity for all participants regardless of location and heritage.
All members of the leadership group are citizens and residents of the United States of America and will bring an in-touch perspective to the game.
It is believed that the Commission will be looking to Asia Pacific Rugby League to officially ratify the constitution.

The Commission has expressed gratitude in a press release to the outgoing board and national staff and thanked them for their contribution through one of the most challenging periods in the growth of the game.

Agree with that. Possibly the best outcome for all concerned, those affiliated with the AMNRL, USARL or Championship RL are not forced to have to join an association they don't want from a political perspective, but at the same time the players aren't punished because their local club doesn't happen to play in the right competition.

I do like the Women's National Team going back to the USA Women's RL... it was a very poor move by the USARL to strip that away after the other group had done all the hard work.

seriously...it's just been so frustrating watching continued 'new dawns' in Nth America, only for them to shoot themselves in the foot the majority of the time. USARL didn't like the way the AMNRL didn't allow for club input, then Cali RL didn't like the way that USARL allowed clubs too much input.

Now, 15 years later...we're back to David Nui (absolutely nothing against him) being on the board. And we have USARL, AMNRL and CaliRL all existing.

I'm not for or against any of them, but seriously...please for the love of Rugby League, put the sport first and figure it out.

I hope we can start to see:
-consistency with teams, rather than so many coming and going.
-shared resources of $ and players/officials
-growth in youth/college/women
-video highlights after games (don't worry about live streams that tech seems to fail...put together some decent edited highlight packages, and a weekly highlight package)
-growth in new areas. (probably the thing that excites me the most is teams listed from Hawaii and Utah - Pacific strongholds with potential growth)

I hope this is what the restructure can allow! Let's do it!

Let's look at if this way. The USARL was formed in protest to the AMNRL picking heritage players ect. They thought they could do things better like all people from outside anything..it turned out they didn't, at least on an internationally competitive standpoint.
You can pick the ways that the USARL were better or that the AMNRL were better but either option simply trying to do the opposite of the other is counter-intuitive of progress!!
An unaffiliated organisation that can make decisions in an unbiased manner is optimal!
That is what this is and although slow it will be to start, it will be better in the long run.
If you play tennis the way you are comfortable, you'll be the best you can be right now but the room for improvement will be limited.
Correct technique will be hard at first but it's progress has no boundaries.
That's what this is.

The Pelicans are the first defection from the CRL / USANRL aren't they?

So USARL have Jacksonville Axemen, South Florida Speed, Tampa Bay Mayhem and the SW Copperheads in the South East, Delaware in the North East and then the four PCRL sides of LA Mongrels, LA Bandidos, San Diego Barracudas and Santa Rosa Dead Pelicans. Atlanta Rhinos may have rejoined the USARL with some of their players picked for the Hawks.

Boston 13s, New York Freedom, Oneida FC and Brooklyn Kings have all played games in 2022, but appear not to be affiliated with the USARL or NARL.

DC Cavalry did play earlier this year, but have been very quiet since then, same with the NARL New York team.

Cleveland has affiliated with the Championship RL and recently played in Elko, Nevada.

Carolina announced their intention to join the NARL, though did have teams in the Naples 9s earlier this year with Roots Rugby, though both also played in the Championship RL 9s.

Oregon and Mid West Leagues both look to be dead, whilst Texas is pouring all their attention into Wheelchair.

California/Championship Rugby League have so far confirmed that Sacramento Immortals, San Francisco Savage, North Bay Warriors, Salt Lake Spartans and Provo Steelers will play in their winter 22/23 competition. East Palo Alto Razorbacks, Utah Seagulls, Sin City Islanders (Nevada) and Laie Rhinos (Hawaii) are all affiliated to the CRL and played in the recent Championship 9s events.

Sacramento Young Tigers appear to have disappeared.

Anything I'm missing?

Utah is now saying they intend to affiliate with the USARL:

Though on Rugby League Hub Long Reads, Steve Mascord has reported:

Championship Rugby League's Richard Fale now claims his organisation has had the company name of the USARL transferred to it.

A posting on the State of Delaware website says the United States Association of Rugby League was incorporated on November 17, 2022.

So, in simple terms what is the situation in the US?
Is it the USARL morphed out of the AMNRL? And there is another group for Cali & Utah called Championship?

Feels like the multiple parties have been told to come together

But use the original USARL name under new administration

The USARL was a breakaway from the AMNRL and eventually became the IRL member after the AMNRL failed a number of governance requirements.

Now the USARL is having breakaway galore. The California RL, which was affiliated only a year ago has formed the Championship RL and broken away completely and the clubs in the North East have broken away (except for Delaware).

The Pacific Coast RL is pretty much clubs the California RL kicked out a couple of years back, with the reasons given for their removal being very questionable.

The IRL is currently aligning with the USARL and trying to get everyone to join a new look governance model (and removal of a few individuals from the USARL board who were not popular), but it will be interesting to see what happens.

The Championship RL has no desire to follow that route and look set to run a 12 team League in 2023, making them arguably the biggest league.

and the petty bitching on both sides continues

from what I can gather, George is involved with Utah Seagulls (which was CRL but this week joined PCRL - which is USARL affiliated)

Seriously, at what stage do they stand back and realise the damage they are doing to the game...and the lack of progress that is happening.
