Amone guilty.

Surely there would be something in Amone's contract that if found guilt of a criminal charge which will end up serving goal time, the contract should becomes null and void.

BBQ gate, JDB saga and this all happened in Wollongong. Maybe force players to move to Kogarah or train full time there so they choose to live in Kogarah. You cannot blame the club for these stupid incidents but the players.

I feel for Amone for one thing and that is if his father was not around at the time of the incident, he would not have reacted or done what he did to get in this situation he is in now. You look up to your dad to set a good example and his dad clearly did not and Amone's NRL career is now basically over because of it.

Well no doubt that’s all true.

If he wants to blame his dad, he should make sure he uses a different lawyer.

Ask his dad to accept as much of the responsibility as he can.

Time for the old man to stand up and help his kid instead of harming him.

I think most of us here wouldn’t hesitate.

The club sacked Paul Vaughan for a whole lot less than what Amone is facing now. I am confident Amone’s fate at the Dragons is sealed already. We won’t get an official announcement anytime soon because the club will need time to cover its ass legally, scrub Amone off any promotional material and get signatures from key figures who are all probably on holidays.

He’s finished.

Need some “payback the club” clauses in the player contracts to protect the club and your significant financial losses incurred by these useless crimes.

Not sure what the basis of appeal would be

the court found he was there

they may appeal the sentence but at the end of the day the conviction should lead to contract termination and a ban from playing in the NRL for at least the same period as his gaol sentence.
Pretty hard to break his ban and play from jail !

Carayannis on SEN radio this morning said Amone won’t be at the club next year regardless of the outcome of his sentencing. Kyle Flanagan looms as the most likely replacement in the halves.
Pretty happy with that, we are better off without Amone, Kyle is a great trainer, a solid human by all accounts and will be putting in 100% every week. Unlike Amone, who evidently is a thug and went missing most games.
This one is a blessing in disguise, can’t wait for Kyle to prove the haters wrong (namely Sharks supporters)

Hopefully get a bit of that Cleary dynamic happening. He’s became a much stronger, talented and robust player under his dad.

I think Kyles best footy is ahead of him and he’s had some patches of form in the past.

I also say on the home forum that it all depends on price as well.

You look at Latrell and while he can play, over time, with injuries and expenses he’s too expensive.

Plus you look at the bulldogs and what’s happened to them.

With that successful sharks side, I think Flanno likes a smorgasbord of players.

He’ll bring in some rogues and bullies as well. Not the Amone kind!!

No doubt he’s made a list and I’d say there are a few surprises and randoms in there. He backs himself to mesh things.

So there should be some deep breaths when the teams are posted. Exciting times anyway.

I know your standard is that everyone who is selected has to have a go. No passengers or holiday makers.

I think our structure (we dont create 1on1s), combined with being forced to play left side has been a major contribution to Amones lack of impact.. but despite his footwork, he just doesnt seem to break tackles like most of the young guns do.. I suppose its acceleration... but that should be his bread and butter.. and really I could count on 2 hands the clean breaks he's made...in 2 years... in my mind anyway..

But his lack of injuries and physical size are big positives in a young 5/8.. but its offset by his lack of a good kicking game and for some reason he struggles to tackle.. ultimately im really im happy if we can part ways, we may regret it in a few years, maybe he ends up a gun lock.. but I think we can do better, and I suspect hes not the best trainer in the squad either.. we just need to make sure we do get rid of him and its not the ramsey and sort of jdb situation.

I think he’s finished at SGI and probably NRL.

I’m not sure if he will get a visa to the UK to play ESL when he gets out.

Depending on who owns what, the whole family will struggle without the salary and the potential legal damages to roofie.

The overwhelming majority of all players of all backgrounds behave themselves. This is a pretty rare event and tbh even if he was playing for another club, I suspect the anger and conduct would have been the same.

Players are asked to behave all the time, sometimes it just doesn’t get through.

I don’t blame SGI, I don’t blame any cultural things, I blame Junior and his bad influences.

This verdict of guilty has made the Dragons look more like a club that cannot get their players to be better citizens off the field. This verdict together with the past indiscretions of a few of the players has made recruiting good players very hard in my opinion. I am sure we lost Tyson Frizell because of JDB's matter even though Tyson wanted a change of club likely to have better premiership chances.

I know that we are not the only club that has players mucking up off field, but our culture really hasn't been the best and I hope that Flanagan will make sure the guys play ball properly on and off the field in future.

He has quite some work to do to achieve that.
Having Flanno as coach is in his favour as no doubt he won’t tolerate BS from the kid and will hold him to a higher standard than he has delivered that past few years.

The kid needed guidance at the dogs and appeared to receive nothing.

just my 2 cents

I concur.

They had a very bad season with no genuine excuses of managerial incompetence like we or SGI had.

Ciraldo after yet another losing press conference has been thoroughly enjoyable.

We're in no position to talk crap about other clubs. This is Kyle's fourth club, I'm not having high hopes for him. I think it would be unfair on him to have high expectations. The only way Amone stays is because we can't get any halves for next season. I would take a punt on Lachlan Lam if he was available.
