Former Australian coach, Chris Anderson is eyeing an NRL comeback after making himself available following the termination of his contract with Newport Gwent Dragons.
Anderson, who has taken both Canterbury and Melbourne to premiership success as well as English Super League club Halifax has surcome recent drama following his dismissal from the Cronulla Sharks as well as not be reappointed Australian coach in 2003. Following his departure Anderson knocked back offers from the South Sydney Rabbitohs and New Zealand Warriors to establish himself in Welsh rugby union. Under his control Newport started out well winning their first three competition games but the cracks started to appear as they only won one of their last seven games.
Anderson made many current NRL favourites like Brett Kimmorley, Scott Hill and Phil Bailey into international players and blooded new talent like Steve Price, Aaron Moule and Glenn Hughes.
It is widely speculated that Manly will take Anderson aboard their ranks at seasons end if current coach Des Hasler can not bring success to the once proud Manly Sea Eagles. Also under pressure Warriors coach Tony Kemp may find himself replaced by Anderson if his team does not perform this year.
Chris Anderson is set to return home in the next few weeks to be with his family.
