Anderson wants to stay a Shark

Who ever really thought he'd give up without a fight?

This IS Chris Anderson we are talking about.

I can't wait for the shit to hit the fan - it's gonna be very entertaining and Ando has a huge chance of winning if this gets to the courts.

Some people are really hanging off the fact he has had 3 breach notices. Same thinking as the board, but it doesn't simply work on a three strikes and you're out basis.

The process is supposed to be

warning 1 -> performance management
warning 2 -> performance management
warning 3 -> performance management

When all that happens you can release an employee. I'vee not seen or heard any evidence that the Sharks have offered Ando performance management and if they wanna try the 3 strikes and you're out rule they have to.

If it gets to courts and Ando has a wisened old team of lawyers they'll steer clear of the District Courts, steer clear of the Supreme Court and throw it all up before the Industrial Relations Tribunal and Unfair Dismissal Board.

The Sharks would struggle to win under the do gooder laws

Then again they might just say GGF Ando. Only strengthens his case though.

Lose/lose situation for the Sharks unless they can broker an OOC deal - oh hang on, that'd mean more money payed out and still a losing situation

So unless Morfeeker is right and there's something to come out of the box we're in for a bit of a ride I reckon.

Kimmorley says Anderson will be staying following a united show of support from the players.
Back to the drawing board for some, I guess.

Kimmorley better keep his big trap shut or he will be in breach of contract.
All players have been warned meticulously about saying absolutely anything to the media about the coaching situation at the sharks.
& Players are on a completely different set of rules due to the Souths fiasco a few years ago.
They breach, they are gone, lose all bonuses & get paid to the day.
This would be a fairly straight forward move for the club.
Would also free up any monies(500k) Anderson might win, & what, we would finish 12th instead of 11th.

That'd be nice. The Directors sack Kimmorley as well. They must feel they have the numbers stacked pretty well for next February.
Lots of clubs would bid for Kimmorley. But who would bid for any of our Directors. NobodyI can think of. Seems to me every time they make a decision things go from bad to even worse.

Kimmorley keeps his mouth shut, like his employers have clearly instructed him to do, there is no problem.
Unless kimmorley wants out to go to Cantebury as well.

If we win a comp sometime soon, I don't care who the coach is.

I hope the board and Ando can both be big enough to reach a decision that has the best possible interests for the Sharks future sucess, and survival.

Since when have players decided who coaches them?

Anytime Anderson wants to win the club a premiership he can get my backing. I don't care much for who the coach is in the photo on the front cover of the paper with the players the day after we've won (whoever they may be as well!!)
What harm can be done if he stays? Let's just forget the garbage and get on with it for god's sake.

Was playing touch with a mate of nuff rapers tonight, and he reckons the writing is on the wall. I cant see anderson budging without a huge sh1tfight, but from convo's he's had with the nuff, he's pretty much been given the gig.

Not a huge fan of Chris, however, I was talking to my old man, and he said something that made me think.
If Chris was your Father/Uncle/Brother would you want him coaching First Grade? Given the heart condition and watching Ando in the box during a game. I would have to say no, you don't wish death on anyone, even reefy would let him live - maybe. ;-)
Ando says he is keen to coach both the Sharks and the Aussies in 2004, however you cannot do it if it will kill you. Obviously the doctors have said it is OK, so like I said I was just crapping on with my Dad.
BTW my old man is an undertaker, I think he senses a customer.

Yep, clubs hire coaches to get desired results, Sully.
Apart from the fans, the players are the most important area of the game.
Team harmony is an essential to success. I know we haven't much of that as Anderson made the decisions on who was in and who was out. You know what: this schemozzle has been just like the problems sometimes encountered by a junior team coach.
1. a kid won't play unless he's allowed to play his favourite position
2. parents sticking their bib in telling the coach what to do
3. parents taking their kids to another club because they don't see eye to eye with the coach (no parents in this case though).
4. etc, etc.
I've seen it happen many times. In this case:
1. a player left because he wasn't going to play in his favourite position (still doesn't)
2. the committee apparently keep sticking their bib in telling the coach how to run the show
3. several player have not seen eye to eye with the coach and have gone elsewhere
Just like a team of U12's, Sully.
Another thing, Sully. Ever been into a football dressing room after a match. When a team loses you can hear a pin drop and most conversation is in whispered tones or outside the dressing room generally crucifying the coach. When the team wins people come from everywhere. You can't move. All the backslapping and and well wishers. The same people would be getting out the knives if the team lost the following week. Sickening?
Back on track: if the players want Anderson and it will keep them happy, let him stay. I still firmly believe that he should be allowed to see out his contract. I believe the Committee are swaying to the wind of the vocal portion of public opinion. Although it has crossed my mind that perhaps LG are so sick and tired of all this bullshyt that they've told Pierce either he goes or they do. Sponsors are there for the value they receive so they may increase their company's exposure with the consequent flow on to profits. LG have certainly been getting enough exposure. I guess it depends if they see it as a positive for their Balance Sheet.

Suggesting BK cannot express who he would like to see coach the club next year is absolutely ridiculous. Ludicrous. This is Australia – you’re allowed to have an opinion. If the Sharks tried to fire him for that then, so be it – I’d want to be as far away from such a club as possible.

If they even suggested they might dump him, he would pick up another contract in the blink of eye and the Sharks should know that. He hasn’t been making any threats as far as I have heard, but if he wants to say he’d like Ando there next year then in my opinion he has every right to do so.

No he does not have the right.
The same as you don't have the right to suggest someone at your work should be the manager in your current job. Same as Kimmorley can't say he does not want Raper.
The instructions were very clear from the club & it is none of his business.
He plays for Cronulla not Anderson. If he doesn't , then he should leave & finish his career in England, because it will be 2007 before he can play in the NRL again.

Where do you work, Blacktip? I am constantly asked to evaluate my superiors at work. The club can instruct all they like, but they cannot supress - if for no other reason than it's against the law.

If this were a copyright or security issue then that would be different. But this is the opinion of an employee about their workplace and he can say whatever he likes.

I'm sorry if you don't like to hear it, but what are you so afraid of? It's just an opinion. Everyone has one.

And 'his business' his exactly what it is. He's talking about his livelihood.

did kimmorley actually say he does not want raper?

i remember the club issuing such an instruction not to talk about the club crisis regarding coaching

however i dont know if expressing support for anderson actually breaches this

perhaps someone has the exact wording of the instruction?
