CRONULLA prop Andrew Fifita dropped a bombshell this morning by quitting the Australian team to play for Tonga.

This move follows the decision by champion Cowboys forward Jason Taumalolo to withdraw from the Kiwis side to also play for the Tongans.

The Australian side will reveal a replacement player on Thursday with Penrith prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard in contention.

With Fifita and Taumalolo in the Tongan pack, the Pacific Island is now a huge chance of making the finals of the tournament.

Your butthole hasn't yet stopped bleeding and healed after the fisting Moylan did to your side in Bathurst? If RCG plays and does well, theres more egg (or whatever) on your face...again.

RGC is a damaging runner of the ball and a ferocious tackler, and big Mal has rewarded his continual efforts.Even if he doesn't play a game, his experience within the Oz camp will be invaluable.

It's really sad that malcontents such as yourself have nothing of value to offer this website, except how much of a "plodder" a player is without once giving credit to a player who deserves it.

Now every team who made the finals have a player in the Australian squad. Deserved selection.

Personally i think it is ridiculous players can switch between countries, Tedesco for example is now representing Italy and should never be allowed to play for Australia either , why does this happen in League only? how can a player be sweating to be picked for one nation , doesnt then goes ok ill go play for them instead, what if you dont have an ethnic extraction? then you are disadvantaged completely.

Anyway if League truly wants to have a respected international competition then pick which nation you want to play for and thats it....Italy, Tonga for example can field pretty decent teams now as will others eventually.

As for Taumolololoolo however way it is spelt and Fifita goes? i dont see what is wrong with that, they obviously feel a lot of passion for their heritage and want and see through an opportunity to lead the way for other Tongans to follow and i see no reason why they cant become a powerhouse....the NRL is changing quickly and there are plenty of players who can play for their island nations. Australia and NZ just have to find their own anglosaxons to fill the gap, again nothing wrong with that, in fact itll give other Aussies more opportunities as well and the internatonal competition flourishes, Australia and NZ are just too damn greedy.

What ethnic background are you talking about?

There are still blokes from Anglo backgrounds in the nrl eligible to represent wales, Scotland and England.

Some blokes might not have their ancestry represented in the World Cup, but unless you include every nation in the world that's unavoidable.

Well that too, that is fine pick and stick, Frizzel for eg played for Wales, he should not be allowed to play for Australia now.
