Putting aside the ref allegedly not stopping for an injured player, how bloody stupid can you be for both abusing a local comp Referee, and doing it when you are high profile.

on the basis of Gorman conceding some of allegations are accurate I can't understand how Fifita is still playing today, some is enough to stand him down, very weak by the Sharks & the NRL should step in.

Apparently the NRL has said that if the Fifita's have owned up to it, they should be stood down from todays game.

David has been sat out, apparently Andrew is still playing.

NRL warning on abuse of match officials

The NRL said today it would not tolerate any abuse of junior match officials, following serious allegations involving two Cronulla Sharks players.

CEO Dave Smith said match officials are the lifeblood of the game and there will be serious consequences for any NRL players engaging in physical or verbal abuse or intimidation of them.

"Match officials give up their time because they love the game and the last thing they should be subjected to is abuse or intimidation," Mr Smith said.

"It is even more intolerable if someone with the stature of an NRL player is involved - we want the full facts to be presented in this matter."

Mr Smith said there had been mixed messages today in media interviews as to whether either of the Fifita brothers had admitted directing foul language towards a match official.

The Integrity Unit had therefore written to the Sharks advising that, if either player has admitted abusing a match official, they should be stood down from today's game.

"The NRL will never prejudge anyone accused of breaches – everyone is entitled to the presumption of innocence," Mr Smith said.

"But if we become aware of any NRL players abusing match officials there will be very significant consequences."

I listened to the Gorman interview on MMM this arvo.

How Fafita was allowed to play today is beyond me. Gorman admitted there was ref abuse yesterday but denied Fafita said 'he would smash him'

Regardless, until this was sorted out properly, at the very least he should have been forced to sit today out. Gorman sounds like a genuine bloke but f**k me, his position on this situation is wrong IMO. For the NRL to have to force the sharks to sit him out proves IMO cronulla stuffed up the handling of this.

Gorman admitted some allegations are "no doubt correct", that is enough to stand them down, his position is bizarre.

no I think they should have both been stood down horrible image for the game

if all the allegations I have seen are true they need to come down super hard on them 8-10 weeks at minimum

Point I was making was Gorman has already said "some allegations are no doubt correct", any correct should have been enough to have stood him down, Gorman was weak.

If the allegations are proven true then both should miss a month.

I'm very surprised the Sharks didn't stand them down in lieu of Gorman's comments.

Sharks for once playing it smart.

Beat the Dogs, take a few days to finish their investigation, then stand him down for a week with some counselling.

Usually by this point they've bent over for the NRL and forgotten to lube up.
