Andrew Voss to host the Footy Show next year... please

Time to dispense of the Fat Man, his days are well and truly numbered. It was good while it lasted, but time to move on.

Vossy is the man to sit in the Thursday night Footy Show hosting chair. (He's funny, but knows his footy) The format of the show should be changed to cut back on a lot of the useless, repetitive segments. They should still have their fun, but not just for the sake of it. Some of the things they have done on the show this year have been, well... boring.

Get more of a footy focus on the show with Vossy in the chair and also replace Sterling with Girdler. If they could mould it more on the AFL FS, it would be great. The bloke who produces TFS said in an interview the other week that if the boys started talking football, the sounds of tv's turning off in Sydney would be deafening. Well dude the TV's have been switching off for a while now and your best rating shows have been when issues in the game have been discussed ie. Joey Johns saga, Bulldogs salary cap and sex dramas.

Keep the no talent time, the our houses, the reg's, the street interviews - they are great. But much of the other stuff is tripe especially when it's done every bloody week by the same blokes. Maybe once a month for beat the boys or daredevil dudes. Or maybe scrap them for good in favour of some fresh footy-related fun.

More current day players should be used on the show as well. Have a different player on the panel everyweek like they do with the AFL show.

Agree 100%. Not sure about Vossy hosting it though, he is great on "Boots n All" but I just can't see him sitting through a Thursday night show. Give him a few trials as 'guest panelist' first?

i'm not personally a big fan of andrew voss but thats for his commentating.

But i do believe what you are saying is right.

and one time i was up till 1 am and i got a glimpse of the afl footy show and having voss host the show would bring a positive change to it

Yawn, The Footy Show has ceased to exist ages ago. In it's place is an hour & a half long avertorial for the Nissan X-Trail & Earth (What you'd eat if you lived on mars".

I have no problem with Fatty remaining as host, but Harragon and Fenech have to go. Bring in Girds. He's funny, well-spoken and he'll bring in the chicks!

Sterling to talk nothing but seriously. Sterling is a great analyst of the game, but has a tendency to want to do more, and he's not good at that.

Matty Johns, speaks for itself.

I know Vossy personally, and the workload is already enough for him this year with Commentating, Boots N' All and being a father. I don't think he could possibly survive the Footy Show evert Thursday night. I can barely survive watching the drivvle myself.
I reckon the show would be so much greater with Vossy and Girdler filling those seats, but I don't think it could happen.

Theres no real problem with the people on the footy show. The problem is the format.

-0.5% serious football discussion
-49.5% crappy kindergarten games
-50% advirtising and product plugging eg. Mars Bars, some car company's

Yeah something has to be done to keep people watching. The whole show has become like a 90 minute add. It's called the footy show, not just the show. Fatty and the Chief have to go as they've got nothing to offer. Sterlo when he tries to be funny is just plain stupid. When he talks footy he's alright. Matthew Johns should stay as he's the only reason I watch the show. He's always good for a laugh.

A panel of Voss, Sterling, Girdler and Johns would be great. More player interviews and a run down of all the games of the week would be great. Some of the segments they have now are just plain stupid. Beat The Boys is the worst segment of any TV show I have ever seen. At present it should just be called The Show because there is no Footy involved.

I love your idea. I really can't watch the show anymore, because it's the same repetitve shyte. I would go as far as saying that it is the Continuous Call, just on TV.

Keep those segments like No Talent Time and Their House. Segments like Beat the Boys and Daredevil Duds is nothing more than self glorifying rubbish - what's the point?

I respect Voss. Would make a good host. And have Girds, Satts and maybe Joey as well. Keep Sterlo, but give Fatty and the Chief the punt (he's as interesting as concrete). And Matty Johns - well, I love the bloke, and he should be an integral part too.

Following the AFL model would not hurt at all. Never know, the ratings may actually rise!

Yeah he is rough around the edges but he is so refreshing to listen to i'd wish we saw more.

Him and his brother-in-law (Brandy) would be shit hot together.

Even Johnny Plath and Quentin Pongia would do a good job on the show maybe with MG and Brandy running a couple of segments exclusively devoted to rooster bashing.
