Interesting Andrew Webster no.1 league writer for the telecrap has left the paper for a job with the SMH.

Started yesterday.

Maybe it was for a better wage or just had enough of telecrap and their hidden agendas.

Fat slob who loves nothing more than to death ride the code at any given opportunity. His opening column for the SMH is a perfect example.

If they can beat the self-serving "the game is doomed" bullshit out of him maybe he'll become a decent writer

Webster is a political animal. He is genuinely a RL tragic but has to comply with RU people in high places to earn a good buck!
Remember most of the people whom have gone on to be professionals in a given field would have necessarily been subjected to RU dominated private school bias at high school level. This scenario compels people to tow the line and give RU an undeserved prop up on many occasions.
The fact that the private school system is still dominated by RU bias is a concern that is very real and something that should be proactively looked at and changed by rugby league in Australia. Rugby league has next to no chance of getting a start in other countries education systems purely because of RU bias.

how do you know that? Isn't he from Newcastle though (and supports the Knights)?

He told me as much on twitter.

He did claim RL is his preference but as Brutus explained in another thread he's a regular at randwick union games.

He also said on TV not long ago that he'd been watching the union and not rugby league.

Bloke is a fraud imo .

To write about rugby league as part of your job it has to be the only sport you ever watch? Strange I didn't know that rule existed. Has it been around long?

He isn't even a Rugby League writer now anyway, and hasn't been for quite a few years. He is chief sportswriter at SMH and held a similar position at the Tele. Look at the second article that SMH has published online - was nothing to do with Rugby League

Like I said "political".

Webster is pleasing a variety of masters!

I would suspect though, that when push comes to shove that he would have a sporting preference for RL over the lot!

No , but he should have been more upfront about his true allegiance.

He said on national TV this year that he's been watching the union and not rugby league.
