Thanks R20. I'm just so friggin angry and but gutted at the same time.
Good morning callmack
Yes mate, definitely deflated the Christmas spirit some what.
I definitely don't want the flog in a Bunnies guernsey next year, give him to the scum now.
If you browse through Twitter and Facebook 90% of the comments want the prick running around with the Bears or out of the club all together.
Cheering on our team just won't be the same knowing that the flog is a f..king rorter wearing the mighty red & green.
I for one will be behind the southern goal posts at ANZ during the warm up giving him everything he deserves, which I would much prefer not bagging out a player in our colours,he has to go now!

IMO Craig Field was a bigger loss.

Lets get real. We have just lost a bloke who while a great runner of the ball has defensive issues , has already hip and foot problems has to have his finger amputated and has stated he wants to eventually play union.

He was good last year but IMHO is a weakness in the defensive line particularly on our tryline.
In attack he never uses his outside man and comes back inside almost every time off the right foot which other teams were cottoning on to. He racks up big tackle break numbers palming blokes off running sideways. Not saying he can't break a tackle but the tackle bust stats are very misleading IMO.
His massive game for us was against the Titans who were as diabolical as any side I can remember in the last 5 years that night.
He is a great runner of the ball, but as the Storm and the big gun teams have shown defence and strong defence wins you games.

1million a season for a good hole running secondrower is about as silly as it gets.

For once I think Richo has done the right thing and to be honest I don't think he is worth anything over 600k and our offer was well above what he is worth IMO.

I liked watching Angus and I hoped he would stay but he's not essential, Souths offered overs and the roosters offered bigger overs. I agree with Mixo Joe that he won't be at Souths in 2018 and there will most likely be a swap.

Absolutely spot on!i also question his toughness(or lack thereof).wait and see how he goes when he fets a whole lot of special attention when he eventually comes up against the bunnies!

Whatever I say will sound glib or butthurt so I wish him well and we all move on.

Some need to get a grip too. Poor Wests Tigers lost three guns in one hit. As for bagging Roosters, Souths fans have to stop living in 1995 and make sure our club is doing its utmost best to maximise and position itself for consistent on field performance and challenging for finals.

As frustrating as it was to lose Tedesco and Woods, and as frustrating as Moses was as a childish twit, I'm glad they're gone and we can move on.

I also understand that a player has a very limited career duration, and given that it's their job I can't begrudge them the chance to make money when the opportunity presents itself, since chances like that are rare for anyone.

Let's be honest: if another company offered you 25% more to work in the same role, how many people would pass that up?

Nobody would pass that up. You’re completely right. I don’t know if anyone actually hates Angus for leaving, I think everyone is frustrated. But Richo actually did the right thing not upping the offer to over a million. That’s just ridiculous money for a kid who’s had 1 breakout season. That’s almost 2 Nathan Brown’s.

More factual info from Mixo: Souths offer to Crichton was $850K (major overs in my opinion) the rorters offer was 1 million with TPAs. What would you expect Richo to do ? Get involved in a dutch auction? He did the right thing "see you later Angus enjoy your stay with the dark side"! Guaranteed he will be seeking a release to join the stinking rorters next year - he would not be able to take the flak from the bunnies supporters if he plays for us next year.
Oh great, another wannabe Lurker :joy: By the way, talking about yourself in the third person sounds super wanky mate

100% agree.

Look, can't lie to say it doesn't sting, but ten years of crash bang wallop they deserve everything they can get.

'Club Loyalty ' is myth now really because those who stay are looked after any way.

Take the money and run I say.

I just don't get how the Roosters can do this. They've just signed 2 players for $1 million each on the cap in 2017, they are about to re-sign Friend and Cordner, they've upgraded Keary by like $200k and now Crichton!! All they've lost is Pearce, Guerra and Nikorima. They would've been close to the cap limit (probably over it) this year so how can they be under for 2018 and 2019? If you tell me they are you're having a laugh, it's a friggin joke!! And what's the bet nothing will come of it!

Umm no

The following players were part of the roosters salary cap for 2017 and are no longer at the club

Paul Carter
Dale Copley
Kane Evans
Michael Gordon
Aiden Guerra
SKD
Jackson Hastings (Not sure if he ended up being included but as of November 30 2016 he was being paid by the club)
Jayden Nikorima
Mitchell Pearce
Connor Watson
Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck

I'll let old mate R20 provide completely made up figures of what these players were paid.

That's not to mention the $2.4M increase in the cap from 2017 to 2018 which alone can cover the wages of Teddy and Cronk without even worrying about what percentage of their wage is made up by TPA and thus excluded from the cap..

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story though.

The 2.4 million increase isn’t just spending money though. A lot of players base contracts across the squad get increased by about 33%. So realistically that increase only covered the Tedesco signing, just like the increase only covered the Gagai signing for us. You can’t really argue how the salary cap works, because no fan would even know where to start. From what most supporters have seen though, it is a terribly run system that seems to be widening the gap between the top and bottom rather than shortening it.
