I've been playing Madden 2004 and am staggered by how much the franchise mode adds to the life of the game. Probably the only aspect that brings it down is that rookies don't have thumbnail pics of their faces, making them seem a little less real in comparison to current players.
I saw another thread here about fans' last names possibly making an appearance in the rugby league sequel. What about fans' faces? You could acquire a shortlist through either a competition or a special offer to owners of the first game, and voila - you have a pool of a thousand faces that can be randomly assigned to fake rookie players. It would be a great way to generate publicity prior to the release of the game.
The factors involved as I see it are a) how many fans would be willing to do this, b) legal implications of people's likenesses appearing in a videogame and c) the logistics of incorporating this into the creation of the game.
Anyway, food for thought.
