Obviously he has the running game, however for the most time he plays alot with "blinkers" on. He has tunnel vision. He just sees straight ahead. He needs to improve his latteral vision. That's what real halves should have. As I said before, "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run."...He hasn't got the know how..the smarts to know if something is on. He is just a runner, at this stage. Also Lozza had abit of a kicking game, Lawrence don't. Just having my say. I welcome yours.

I agree havoc, he doesnt seem to even have enough room playing centre so with even more pressure in close i cant seee him being brilliant.
He is smart enough to use an overlap and run or offload, i just cant see him creating one.
So lets just say Lawrence goes well and Benji goes crap at hallback as normal, will teflon call it a succes?
Shines is a f**king halfwit and he is going to experiment for no reason at all and put another season in jeorpardy for his own egoistic pleasure.
Piss of to the UK with the gnome.

Sheens takes a gamble by forming new halves pairing

GLENN JACKSON

July 2, 2010 WESTS TIGERS coach Tim Sheens has rolled the dice ahead of tonight's clash with Brisbane by shifting centre Chris Lawrence to five-eighth - a move club assistant coach Peter Gentle admitted had been on the cards for some time.
Lawrence will combine with halfback Benji Marshall, while Daniel Fitzhenry, who was originally named at halfback, will move to the wing, allowing former Panthers speedster Geoff Daniela to switch to centre. Gentle said Sheens had likened Lawrence to Laurie Daley, suggesting the club has a long-term plan to shift Lawrence closer to the action, accompanying Marshall in the halves.

They never give up on a bad proposition, no matter what the evidence is of past trials. WT have to see the end of Sheens reign, one way or the other - either end of 2010 (hopefully) or end of 2011 (worse case).

Don't like the move as I don't think now is the time but I think people will be pleasantly suprised the skill set Lawrence has to offer in terms of a kicking game

A part of me is hoping we dont make the 8 so that knob can f**k off.

Meanwhile Steve Folkes is in the background rubbing his hands together thinking "woohoo this ones in the bag"

Eddie I am talking about a weel controlled long kicking game. He has a very very good one.

It depends on whether he is given the opportunity to use it or not. Lazarus also has a excellent tactical kicking game but was only given it twice on the last

Daniela in the centres and Fu--henry on the wing = 3 tries for BEN TEO and probably first try scorer at 12/1

Teo was named in the 2nd row i believe, unless they changed him to centre when they got wind of our changed backine.

we play left and right halves. marshall plays on the left. lawrence has played his whole first grade center career on the left and hence only ever passed to the winger on the left of him.

what are we going to do tonight? play lawrence on the right?? the same structure we've played since prince left? a bloke who has never even ventured onto the right side of the field or passed that side in 3 years??

or change the way we've played for the last 5 years with one weeks practice and play marshall as first reciever and lawrence as second reciever, the more traditional way.

the mind really boggles..

Its not on par with Tugger Colemans -

Willie Petres - the next Peter Sterling.
Lee Hookey - Class & a rep player.
Wade McKinnon - Good as Lockyer.

Vut its getting there. Lawrence is a GUN centre. Nothing else. Why come out and saddle the kid with this sh*t? Same with Dwyer, obviously a very promising player. If he were the next Brad Clyde though, he'd be playing 80 minutes flat out and producing quality.

Unprofessional as all f**k. Your coaching staff are dinosaurs, but you already know that.

Soward has flashes of brilliance, but has been down this year compared to last. Hornby is simply a toiler, hardly sets things up but he never gets in the way when a play is on.

Compared to those two, Marshall should be grabbing a game by the throat. Especially with Farrah at hooker.

The sooner you lose Shines the better.

Good luck with the Lawrence experiment though. I don't know why you would want to move one of your best players from centre into the halves, but then again we did the same thing with Gasnier. And look how that worked out.

Unfortunately we'll probably see Benji dishing out short balls to fowards this week. Lawrence is capable of little more than hitting a hole so I expect him to be running next to the second rowers on both sides of the field this week, doing little more than acting as a third centre.

If lawrence had to play at another position, I seriously think he'd be better suited at Fullback (given some training positionally and under the high ball)

man, once up to speed with the gig, he'd be f**king dynamite

btw - gotta agree with Nick, I can't see how having Lawrence at five-eighth is in any way different to Ayshford at five-eighth.

They will both be employing the same tactic, and our centres will be defensively poorer for the adjustment.

Teo was listed at Centre from what I saw, They'll have him running at Daniela all night.

Te'o is now playing in the backrow because of Setu's injury. Beale will be lining up in the centres, presumably on the right against Daniela and Tuqiri.
