Another "riot"

Your generalization's are hilariously stupid.

Why shouldn't fans here emulate European culture? It's working wonders in the USA. You seem to think football culture is all riots and violence and I can understand that because you've never been to a match before. YouTube expert.

Lord knows the current sporting culture we have is boring as bat shit. People can't even turn up to games let alone create atmosphere lol as opposed to fans traveling across Europe still singing as their team lose 0-4, yes that's a terrible thing to emulate. NRL can't even get fans traveling across Sydney lol

FC Bayern something like 300 consecutive matches sold out, no lets not emulate that.

But yeah let's create our own culture. We should emulate the cricket and just sink piss all day and get rowdy that'll work!
Yeah who'd want to go to a game with an atmosphere like this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOctPmFemh8

How does US sport emulate European culture in any way, shape, or form?

The US is it's own sporting landscape with its own traditions and practices, and is much MUCH more inclusive than the European practice of segregation.

Selling out stadiums isnt a cultural thing, that's simply a numbers game. Quintuple Australia's population and we'd be selling out stadiums each week as well.

You need to Quintuple the population of Sydney to sell out the grounds there? How big would you like Brisbane to be before Lang Park is full every week?

I think you should actually go to some of these nasty sporting events before commenting and don't just base your thoughts on the Youtube clips and Danny Dyer programs where it all gets a bit 'nawty' (to be said in Cockney accent).

I think its just the Aussie way to not have much atmosphere at sporting events. Its not a bad thing. Its a different thing.

Granted I haven't been to Europe but I have been to American sports and the atmosphere there is amazing without an ounce of danger and certainly no segregation necessary for away fans. America is the sporting landscape I am jealous of compared to Australia. Not Europe. If we are talking just soccer, then I reckon the Japanese leagues would be equally awesome for atmosphere without the trouble.

Whenever I go to Europe (likely in the next couple years) i'll of course get along to some EPL, but can't say I'd be willing to wear my everton jersey around everywhere. Similarly I'd never walk around various Italian cities during champions league in opposition colour.

Then don't comment on shit you know nothing about.

but I have been to American sports and the atmosphere there is amazing without an ounce of danger and certainly no segregation necessary for away fans.

Because there are hardly any away fans. Teams are so far apart from one another. The closest thing you get to a local derby with decent away support is in NYC with the NHL or MLB (Giants and Jets hardly ever play each other).

And the US has one of the worst sporting atmospheres going around. It's far too sanitised. I once went to an NBA and somewhat loudly called an opposition player a 'dickhead'. Literally the entire row in front of me turned at once to look at me with a disapproving look. No-one would bat an eyelid here. Over there you would never hear a "Bullshit" or "Ref's a wanker" chant like you get here.

Again more nonsense. There's hardly any segregation for example in Spain. So long as you don't wear a Barca jersey at the Bernabeu or a Madrid jersey at the Camp Nou, then you can pretty much wear any jersey in any part of the stadium and not be worried (save for maybe the Madrid and Sevilla derbies). As for the ridiculous idea that you can't wear your Everton jersey anywhere on the street, when I went to a game at Anfield an Everton fan cabbie took me from the station. And guess what? Didn't get bashed and he was actually a top bloke.

I love how A-League teams and their supporter groups are increasingly trying to integrate more European elements into our game, with all-game chanting and dedicated supporter blocks behind the goals. Sure, it's not as good as you get in Europe but it's developing nicely. And they're doing it in the face of an increasing politically-correct, police state developing in this country.

You haven't been to Europe so exit any topic about European football as you are not qualified.

So because you could swear at refs and players like a wanker that is a lack of atmosphere is it?

Teams like KC in the NFL have crowds making enough noise to regularly force visiting teams to have to take time outs because they simply cannot hear their quarterback calling the play. And that's just NFL. College football takes it to another level again.

You call it nonsense..... Then proceed to list several more examples on top of the ones I already gave in which you would be in danger wearing opposing colours.

We're you trying to prove my point?

When has anyone in this country ever had anything against chanting, cheering and singing?

The only time police get involved in any crowd issues is when violence occurs, or when stupid f**ks start letting off firecrackers and flares in the stands.

MLS? Their worst attended men's sport this this side of lacrosse?

Something tells me european fever isn't going to be making in roads on the insane crowds and atmospheres of American football (especially college level) and baseball in the US.

MLS crowds have been improving and most teams play in stadiums with around 20k capacity but don't let that disrupt your stupidity. You're a YouTube expert you wouldn't know shit about European football. Scared of wearing an Everton jersey lmao

Serious question, what's wrong with flares? I really don't see what harm they can possibly cause other than smoke inhalation (boo hoo)... In Europe and South America, the stadium always has it's sections where the 'rowdier' ones hang out. If that's not your scene, sit in the family stand and let the fanatics let of their flares and CREATE AN AWESOME ATMOSPHERE!

I said the complete opposite to that. I said they don't do it at all over there and when I once did it was frowned upon. The vast majority of sports fans there are fairly tame. Why do you think they have to start up "Defence" chants over the loudspeaker at NBA and NFL games? It's because the fans can't do it themselves and it artificially creates atmosphere.

We're you trying to prove my point?

Several examples . I listed 6 possible La Liga games out of 380 where there could be a problem. By my reckoning that leaves 98.5% of La Liga games where you can support the opposition in any part of the stadium without fear of harassment.

Tonearm and co. are right. You are a youtube expert.

A few flares thrown and two people ejected and Channel 7 and 9 all over it like people were killed.

f**king disgrace.

It is a disgrace. Adam Peacock, the Fox anchor tweeted that 12 people were evicted from the AFL GF and 5 from the Melbourne Cup, yet no-one mentioned those incidents in the media.
