for the freedom of speech and reverse racism nutters....you can say whatever you want

this is naught to do with sam's joke but the fact he was getting paid to be a role model for aboriginal people.

he can keep telling jokes, but that one was the most expensive one he's told

Haha It has everything to do with his joke. If he thought it instead of saying it, he would of been fine because no one is the wiser. He said something racist while he is in a role model position. Hence he got punished.

You know how Racists usually use the 'i have an indigenous friend' or 'my indigenous friend says stuff like this all the time' to defend horrible comments?

Sam Thaiday is that friend

Reverse racism is the stupidest term I've ever heard, anyone who can't see the irony is it has issues.

He would be apologising for naught if it didn't mean more sponsorship losses

So how would the community have reacted if say Paul Gallen made the remark???

This is not a one off error of poor taste in 'humour' for Thaiday. He has a history of it. He has offended many people with this latest stupid remark. I can't believe the powers that be have again turned a blind eye to it/him.

The bloke just isn't funny and needs to be told by his coach, club and the NRL at the very least. Channel 9 could do themselves a favour and stop giving him a platform.
50k suspended nrl fine wall to wall media coverage for 7 days.
Im not offended by Thaidays comments but he is an embarrassment to the game. Fits in well as typical Qlder and channel 9 tool

Sounded more dumb than racist, he is pretty dumb.
Misogynistic jokes for a person of his profile is a reflection of what a pea brain this boof head is. Im no lefty lesso pinko, but getting in the wrong books with sheilas spells trouble for this tool

For all Thaiday is getting the grief, shouldn't questions be asked of the Channel 9 production team? That was a pre-recorded segment, so surely, if it's that offensive, they should have picked it up and edited it out....
For what it's worth, I find the moral outrage on things like this pathetic. It was a light hearted joke - jokes have always played on 'something different' about a person... if the moral outrage continues to increase as it has over the last few years, comedians will be out of business...

It's a good point you raise about ch9. They allow airtime for their own presenters to indulge their personal crusades, bias & agendas so it's not like they would really have a handle on these sorts of things.

It's a sad state that people can't tell jokes me that other people can't understand what clearly was a joke.
But the outrage has to be applied equally I guess.
