I'm no longer a member and won't be buying merchandise. It's time they stopped moving on quality players to be winners at other clubs.

Moylan leaving by itself is not enough evidence to suggest that Griffin has lost the playing group though (I think most can see that Moylan has some serious issues with regards to commitment). It will be interesting to see what happens with Cleary, Edwards, Cartwright etc in the coming season or two though. That will give us a better indication of how well regarded he is.
Both Joey and Locky loved a party and the drugs. Winning clubs work around this shitWe just seem to give up on players so easily. The slightest problem & we try and move them on.
I don’t think that’s a good long term strategy.
That appears to have more to do with Gus than it does Griffin.
I'll renew my membership, but I would like to one day see a 250+ match player at Penrith. Most other clubs seem to have at least one.

Apart from the Titans. Are we the only club that doesn't have one?
Steve Carter had 245 from memoryBrandy would have done it, if not for the unfortunate event. He finished up on 275 for us and the Warriors.
If Gower learnt how to hold his liquor, kept his clothes on and stopped blaming everyone else for his problems. He should have cracked the 250 mark.
Just us the Tits and the Tigers. Farah finished on 247

I simply don't understand why you would feel this way. The Moylan situation excluded we have moved on a lot of players in recent years but for the most part there were very valid reasons as to why the decisions where made to move them on. Again other than Moylan we have resigned/retained almost all the players whom we have wanted to keep.
Herbert Henry on another thread listed a number of players who have moved on in recent seasons ie Idris, Api, Hiku, Coote etc etc but when you go thru the list most if not all fans would agree there were valid reasons as to why the players were allowed to go elsewhere and for the most part good decisions by the club. One or two, Api Korisau for example had a really good season with us and we would have loved to have kept him but at the end of the day the Sea Eagles offer was one which we simply couldn't match. Additional years, more money so having regard to the player he was released one year early. Some have suggested we should have played hardball and held him at the club on his modest deal for the additional year but I don't agree with that.
Not sure why we take the club's denials re Moylan personally. This looked like a classic trade tactic. If the club says player is unhappy and wants out, it reduces your bargaining power substantially.
Personally and emotionally my initial reaction was that the club had to keep Moylan. Now it appears the club handled the trade/negotiation to achieve a pretty strong result for members/fans by gaining Maloney.
The club flat out lied to us. Not for the first time. It could remain silent rather than tell us a blatant lie.
The club has zero credibility now. The media can make all the wild and crazy rumours they want... and they will now have credibility even if we deny them. The media was right about TMM. The media was right about Moylan.
The club lied to us both times. Theres no defending that. The club doesnt lose bargaining power... the fact a player in a 5 year cobtract has spoken to another club confirms to them he wants out. Us admitting that or denying it changes nothing in negotiations.
I cant believe the things this club can do and be defended for. Our club lie to us. Our club doesnt give a shit about contracts. Gus is destroying the club.
He talks about building a successful club around our juniors and goes and throws all the salary cap at the likes of Merrin, Tamou and Maloney. Players who have no reason to give a shit about this club. Its just the highest paying job they can get.
Fans are excited by signing international players. But a year later these players have gone backwards massively and are not international quality players. They are still paid as such though.
Fans then say the players we lost were overrated and will easily be replaced. But these guys go on to be more successful away from us and we dont improve without them.. our players arent overrated. They were just part of a system that limits their ability to reach their potential. Oh and should we debelop a replacement. He's just 3 years away from leaving too.
How can we expect to expand our fan base when we treat them this way? When we cant even keep our best players happy? Players like jennings. Lewis. Moylan etc. Are the players kids grow up idolising. Letting these guys go.. how do we expect to make more fans of little kids? Its just not happening.

This is a load of shit.Couldn't disagree with this statement more. The club playing hardball is the only thing that secured an effective trade. Otherwise the player walks anyway and the club is left with rookie 5/8 options.
There are still members/fans that are obviously pretty upset - fair enough. But I'd be a lot more pissed about it if the club hadn't played hardball and got Maloney. A few years ago we'd wave Lewis goodbye and get Ciraldo as a replacement. I much prefer the Moylan-Maloney scenario.
Not all of our juniors kick on elsewhere. Some find they want to test themselves in new environments - check out the recent statements by Michael Morgan as evidence of this.
The club has to do the best deal for their members that they can. If the Moylan issues were deemed terminal, then fans/members need to understand that what might be in black and white may be positioning the club for this purpose.
