love it (Rockabilly)

Chris Cheney is a big Rockabily fan and you can tell by Living Ends latest CD, there are two songs with a very strong Rockabilly feel about them. He also like the look, hence the semi acoustic and double bass that they play.

Now lets talk Blues, a term that get bandied around too much.

Artists like John Mayal who played alot with Clapton in his younger days had a band called Blues Explosion, never had a drummer, just guitars and keyboard, download any old John Mayal stuff if you want pure blues that is commercially available.

If you ever get a chance to see Kevin Borich live, do it. Saw him at Byron Bay pub a few years back and thats all he plays, and he is damn good.

If you have Austar or Fox, they have about 50 Audio channels, or Radio Channels. One of them is just Blues, and its Blues mainly from the deep south and from the 30s to about the 60s. Most of the music is from the original roots of Blues, not the stuff they refer to as Blues nowdays.

If you are a fan, its an addictive channell.

Of course.... they were called The Runaway Boys very early on... go figure!

;-)

i agree with you all the classic Blues are awesome, i was just listening to some Elmore James while i was cooking dinner

to you and Twizzle
do you like the newer blues from the last twenty to twenty five years eg: the James Harman Band, Duke Robillard, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Anson Funderburgh and Rod Piazza

I haven't heard a lot of it

I'm still finding new old stuff if there is such a thing

there is so much of it around, it will take a life time to listen to it all

one of my fav Hendrix songs Voodoo Chile the slow version, now thats blues

That song, which is also on Electric Ladyland is called Voodoo Chile. 15 minutes of pure Blues bliss ... great pick Twiz :)

Red House by Jimi though is my all time fave Blues Song ... he wrote the lyrics in 8 minutes. Legend.

Voodoo Child (Slight return) is completely different (and to this day remains Hendrix's ONLY number 1 song) even though they are on the same album. Quite bizarre huh.

Yeah mate i know the Thunderbirds really well. Love em. Cant say im too familar with the rest you mentioned. Remember that old Aussie band called Chain ? Black and Blue remains the best Aussie blues song of all time imo. You can download it here ...

If you ever go CD shopping one day, look out for the Best of ZZ Top (the 1970's version) ... they actually released two Best of's, but the 70's one was 100% Blues. Some truly great tracks on that too. Rare as hen's teeth tho ... maybe i should upload them for you ... just PM me if you are keen.

Don't mind Blues or Rockaabilly when I hear it, but i've never really gotten into it.

Closest I come to Blues would be Lynyrd Skynyrd or Steve Ray Vaughan.
