If the Raiders management were smart, they'd restructure Lincoln Withers' contract. Because of salary cap struggles for 2005, he is only getting $45,000 for next year, and like $200,000+ the following three years. So now that money has been freed up from McLinden, they should pay Withers more this year, freeing up even more money in 2006... if that makes sense.

that's a f**king awesome idea . they seriously HAVE to do that, unless the unlikely occurs and we get Fielden.

Come to think of it, if we can recruit some really high quality players, we will be in great stead for 06 and beyond...

We have alot of players coming off contract, so we will have alot of money to go and buy some big name players, and if we can get them to Canberra, the furture will be looking good.

The way I see it is Marty's seen the writing on the wall.

With the signing of Lincoln Withers, I think he's having flashbacks to 2003 and the Brad Drew Debacle.

The Raiders seem to think that Marty is the answer to all their halves problems. He knows he's not a halfback or five-eighth, he's a winger or fullback. Given the opportunity to play with a quality halfback, maybe he could make a go of 5/8. But he's realised that its just not going to happen.

What's the betting that he won't be playing 1/2 or 5/8 in London?

I'm not angry or dissapointed with Marty at all. Management on the other hand........ :evil:

London signed him to replace their halfback Denis Moran, so he'll most likely play there. It's indicative of Marty's desire to be exclusively a half that he went to London.

Bottom line: Raiders would not win a premiership with Macca in the halves. There's gonna be a major changing of the guard in the next two seasons, our team probably won't be recognisable from the 2003 model. Hopefully for the better...
